Howdy folks,

I am soon to be proud owner of mk 1 Leon cupra. Black paint, air con, 6 disc changer, climate control and full leather seats front and rear. Its a 2001 model so she's getting on a little now at 12 years old and 138k on the clock but I will be paying just over £700 so I think I have made a good deal. In the advert about a electric window passenger side not working, is that expensive to fix? Also how much would expect to pay for reasonable (medium quality) tyres? Front left needs changing apparently.

I'm also writing here to ask about if I change the stock built in radio, will an after market one still work with the built in disc changer? Not going to spend over £75 as the car is cheap but need bluetooth for calls while driving and mp3 for my digital media collection.

Man, I am so excited for Friday to collect it and for a 1st car it has really impressive specs with good interior and being a 1.8 turbo 7 second 0-60 I couldn't be happier!!!

Much love from me, Steve!

I live in Abbeymead, near the tesco express and turmit hoer pub. What kind of touches have you done to yours?

I know a few boys from there, James miller, Craig talbot and dean Morgan? I was being sarcastic lol mine is a thug at the moment, stuff like brembos and r32 seats etc what's the plans with yours?

Dean Morgan rings a bell but don't any of them personally. As for my plans, I'll probably just get a better radio, maybe upgrade the speakers if they are blown. Fix electric window and get new front tyres and getit serviced. Other than that probably just enjoy it, it will be my first car :thumbs up:

Picked up the car, am overall very pleased with it. The performance is great it pulls like a train! No engine upgrades needed I can say that much for sure! Theres a few negatives though, like glove box handle is broke, needs 3 tires according as advisory the mot cert says. The steering wheel has to be right a fair bit to be straight I suspect an accident has occurred at some point. How ever the car handles well and everything except the passenger window works. I love giving a boot full and feel being pushed into the seat and hearing the swooooooooosh of the turbo! I had so much fun driving from Hereford back to Gloucester. You can just tell it wants to be driven fast lol I also found the pedals felt short and the gears were short, needed much less movement than I'm used to compared to the punto and Clio I have driven in the past

What's a VCDS? I'm a bit of a noob to this stuff I'm afraid. Your very local to me, I live just by coney hill clock tower but on the abbeymead side.

Depends if you want to pay main dealer prices, let me know how you get on when do her service etc as want find a local garage to stonehouse where I work, probably badger 5 for me.

True that about the prices but I don't think I'll be going out to stonehouse to get work done. Today I went to motor world in brockworth and got new wipers front and read rear and also upgraded the headlights (dipped and full) for some sort of xenon ultima things which should give a nice bright white light look. Had her washed and polished, she's looking great and hoovered the interior Tomorrow I'm taking her to a cheaper shop for 4 tyres, wheel bearing, fix passenger window, get new coolant as its 100% water apparently and get the steering wheel alignment sorted.

Also found out I have some sort of exhaust mod, dunno if its just the back box but there's a weldsport logo I found after a bit of cleaning ;)

Also guys, any chance anyone can point me in the right direction for a bit of help with my radio? I can't pick up any radio channels, CDs play perfectly, I suspect the FM antenna cable has gone loose or not been attached if someone has done some work or something. Google isn't helping me much apart from checking the antenna connection but if there's a more specific thread around it would be good to read over it.

Cheap tyres are a no no bud. Been down that route as a temp when I was skint. 2 weeks and I pulled them off!! Lived on beans and toast for a few weeks instead.

Iv no idea what the tyres are going to cost yet but I do realise the importance of reasonable tyres as they are are the only thing which touches the road which obviously we want to be staying on lol I will see what they say at the garage when I go down. My Mrs had her fronts (tyres) done there on her punto and never had any issues and I use that car regularly

If your happily plodding along in the car then cheap would be fine. If envy thing like me and may others on here and like a good blast up to 70mph every now and then , then 1 - you will!!! Chew through them. 2- in the wet , they will be really bad. Cheap tyre will cost around £80. Try push out at least a extra 20-30 if you can . A brand name will last a lot longer and save you massively in the long run. I've got a set of p zeros on the back of mine. Been on there for 6 years now and only just starting to come to changing.

Iv yet to take mine to 70 yet, not really had chance to tell the truth, done 50 in 30 zone to show the turbo to my Mrs which shat her up lol I looked over my car today and I got a different brand of tyre on each corner lol You're right though I'll see what money allows and see if I can can get a decent brand set. The wheels I have are some 17" after market ones. I want to get some pics up on her for you guys to have look

They should cost too much then if only 17's. mine are 18's and wouldn't spend any less now then £120. Plenty of threads on here about tyres. Lots of advice and places to go to , to get them . :)
