Hi,

Just replaced the actuator for the fuel flap on my Mk1 but the thing still doesnt work.

The actuator itself works because I tested it with a battery.

I'm thinking it could be either a fuse or the release switch on the central panel next to the drivers seat.

Does anyone have experience of this? or possibly which fuse could be at fault?

thx

PS I dont have a fuse tester. (yet!)

hoping to resurrect this one!

I've tested the fuel flap actuator and it seems fine.

I've also taken the switch (the one in the central console in the car) out and tested and there is a current passing through it from 2 of the four connectors on the bottom, but the trouble I'm sure if this is correct??

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for these things? Strangely, the switch has 4 metal connectors on it, but the actuator only has 2.(!?)

There cant be much else I havent checked? Switch -> wire -> Actuator...

I've also checked all the fuses (fusebox in side panel on drives side) and they're fine, unless there are other fuses I dont know about(?)

Grateful for any input on this one.

cheers

Two for switch illumination, two for the actual switched feed. Do you mean current or voltage?

Pins 2 and 3 are for the switch illumination, 3 for power (should have 12V on it)

Pins 1 and 4 for switch function, 1 for power (should have 12V on it), 4 goes to the solenoid.

Note this switch is only enabled when the ignition is off to avoid opening the flap while you're in motion. So take the key out of the ignition, then look for voltage.

10A fuse (323) is on the relay plate under the dash: leftmost fuse at the top of the plate. Check to see whether it's a conventional fuse or a circuit breaker of some kind.
