funny noise!

hi people just wondered if anyone could help, just started getting a funny noise when i first start my car up (16V) and steer. sounds like whirring noise im guessing steering pump?? just wondered if anyone else had this problem before. It only does it the first time i steer then it fine. cheers

i got the same, but only on full lock, is my PAS motor going/gone?

yeah afraid so not that much to buy a pump though, and if your not doing it yourself then i havent a clue on labour sorry mate

Its the belt 9/10 times the hydraulic steering is very reliable. Its meant to whine a little also as obviously its a hydraulic pump!

i'd do it myself, but someone also said it might just be the belt, it sounds like a belt (like you know when someones fan belt makes that sound) its like that, only on full lock!

aah, will get him to check the belt then, cant be much for aux belt can it?

that's what i thought, hopefully sort all these little niggles out! its bloody embarrassing parking when you do full lock and it squeeks lol

oh really? is it during full lock? if not his pump might be gone mate! mine is a slipping/squeeking sound!

no its when ever u use it lol, but yeah thought it was pump in first place, just reading this made me think it was his belt lol
