Model Year 23/24 Garage will not provide an invoice after recent service

I recently had a 2nd (Major) service (if you can call it that) carried out at a SEAT main dealer and they are refusing to supply an invoice which would then itemise any parts that were fitted etc. The reason given is the final cost of the service is being invoiced directly to VAG financial services and as I’m on a service plan (paid monthly) with VAG, I’m not entitled to an invoice! I have been given a visual inspection report which details tyre depth and other obvious comments/recommendations, together with confirmation that the service has been carried out and recorded on the VAG database.

I always like to check the details of an invoice, see what been fitted and in this case, check that an air filter has definitely been fitted/charge for, oil type etc, and then keep the invoice with rest of the vehicles paperwork.

My question; is this normal behaviour when you take out a service plan and what are others people’s experiences? I presume they are trying to hide the cost of the service and what is being invoiced back to VAG so you can’t then draw a comparison with the total monthly cost of the plan? Or is it just this particular dealer chain?

I had a service plan with my VW (I no longer own the car) and although I did get a invoice, it didn’t include an itemised list of the parts / fluids used; it just stated ‘carried out visual health check’ and ‘carried out oil and inspection service plus pollen filter’. The dealer I used had also stopped issuing hard copy paper invoices - everything emailed to customers.

So maybe it’s standard VAG policy not to provide an itemised invoice when there’s a service plan in place. The dealership was Group 1 who have many of the VAG and non-VAG franchises in and around the area I live.

Did they not provide you with a copy of the digital service history?

Exactly the same for myself with service plan as part of the finance, so would say it's the norm.

Seriously?

Same for us when we up until recently had a service plan on our 2018 Leon (car was not on finance).
We just get a visual inspection report and work carried out confirmation; and the service book is stamped ( yes, we still have a hard copy service book!!!)

Not got a service plan or a hard copy service book for the Leon, but I always get a full list of every thing that was done/changed, Still have my hard copy service book for my Honda CBF1000GT, but only have one page left for services/stamps, as I now have had it 15 years plus. I have photocopy pages for after that, as I like a booklet of all the work done.
