Difficult to see from pics but there is a hole that shows what you explain and there is a hot water bottle plug type thing that goes in there, it is quite common for these to come out though

It's almost certainly the inspection hole for access to the markings on the flywheel to allow strobe timing and showing you where TDC is. However I can't be certain from your photo - is there one showing a wider view?

There should be a rubber bung, looking like a hot-water-bottle cap, that sits in the hole and stops things falling down it.

The hole is in the clutch housing not the gearbox, so there's no worry about oil getting out. You don't want oil getting in though. There are gaps at the bottom of the housing, so water won't build up in there. Still, you want the bung in place.

When I got my latest car I found that mine had got stuck under the gearchange linkage. You might find yours in the undertray.

Yea it on the bell housing u can see the fly wheel teeth as u can see it spinning when engine running.

Iv looked on top of gear box and I don't have a under tray and can't find it. It might of even bin missin when I got the car a year ago only noticed it was gone when removed the pcv hoses.

Do u happen to av the part num for the bung?
