gear problem

ok i had a new gearbox put on this week due to old one dying, ratios are a little different and i know they had to modify the box a little to work but it all seemed to work fine. same box number as the old one although that was a vw

anyway drive home tonight and was reversing up the drive and it kept coming out of reverse gear, stick was still in but its almost as its popped out slightly and it crunches quite a bit if you try to put it back in

anyway ideas as forwards gears are fine

just spoke to the mechanic who did it, on the new box there was a raised lug doing nothing which was not on the old box and he had to cut it down best he can

apparently it is very close to the reserve selection and it could be something has moved and cause this, going back in on monday but will have the new motor by then
