Hi all,

Just wondering whether somebody can shed a light on this: I took this photo during a oil change, and I can see there is a loose bolt at the bottom of the gearbox.

Does anyone know what this bolt does, and what might be the consequence of it having been loose for some time?

1.8 TSI manual. MQ250 02S gearbox.

Thanks :)

Thanks James for the speedy response- the photo was taken a while ago during my last oil change and only just noticed the bolt today looking back at the photos. I’ve not been under the car recently.

I think I’ve misinterpreted my own photo, as looking at other pics online it turns out the bolt hole in the pivot pin plugs are elongated- looking at my photo again it looks like the treads are showing through the elongated hole, and the bolt itself is properly seated.

I am therefore happy to report there is nothing wrong! :)

The white silicone oozing out those joints is not original - someone's been in there before.
