Gearbox on its way out??

2006 MK2 FR TSI

Few weeks ago I changed from 1st to 2nd and it 'popped' out, ever since then when I change into either 1st,3rd or 5th it feels like it doesn't go all the way forward into the linkage.

Now today it was stuck in neutral for about for a few minutes, but then after a few wiggles I got it working again, but weirdly enough the gearbox felt 'normal' , so 1st, 3rd and 5th now engage properly as they used to.

Gearbox oil? I have no idea

Linkage out of alignment or worn and not moving properly?

Could be, I've now booked it in for a service so will get them to check it oout

Could be what I had. The slave cylinder pipe on the outside of the gearbox was slowly leaking and the clutch would work then not and then back on again. I also found the nut on the top of a selector arm on-top of the gearbox loose and so misaligned for 1st until done up with some thread-lock.

I've also noticed now that if I attempt to shift from 1st to 2nd at high revs it won't do it!
