Hi guys this will be the jack ill be using and do not want it to slip off the jacking tower does the fact that the face on this jack is quite small make the chance of it slipping higher?

How likely a car is to fall off the jack, or any other support depends on a lot of things so there isn't a blanket answer. Use a three-ton trolley correctly and it'll be fine. Use a scissor jack on gravel and your car's probably going to end up on the ground.

incidentally, for the service I lifted one side of the car with the trolley jack using the turret shown. I had to remove the plastic trim to get at it. I then just jacked the other side on the sill and left it on the jack. The only really issue with these jack points is that they are very close to the sill support/jack points so jacking then getting an axle stand in is tricky.

I removed the plastic cover, one screw, then jacked straight onto the metal turret shown in post-15. Might treat myself to the kit though, because it's cool ;0)

Cheers for the help gonna need a jack with a bigger lifting plate tho as mine is quite small and dosent sit properly and when ever i start jacking it starts to slip

A lot of the smaller jacks have small heads on them. One thing I do is make wooden adapters for my jacks and axle stands so that they fit the sills tightly and won't scratch them. I'll take pictures and show you what I mean.

Resurrecting this thread, I've found the part numbers for the jack kit, but it includes a bar rather than two pads for each side at the rear.
Anyone have a pricing tool to confirm what these cost?

Looks like the fronts would need a low profile jack to get under them and any side handles on the jack need taking off.

LOL, I thought I had a low profile jack until I needed to lift the front of my car. I made a pair of small wooden ramp blocks to drive onto, just so I can get my jack under...

I now use mini hockey pucks about 6cm x 2cm) on top of my axle stands so I can put them anywhere solid and flat. Works a treat.

When using the sill jacking points you can also use a small 4" square of old carpet on the jack as protection against damaging the sealer. Some jacks already have a nice rubber pad for that. Unfortunately a lot of tyre shops dont!

Deutsche Auto Parts is an established USA company that specialises in tuning VW Golfs. They have produced this video showing how to jack a MK7 Golf onto 4 axle stands with one trolley jack, and it wasn't posted on the 1st of April.
