Hi everyone.
So I have just chopped in my 2016 Leon cupra 290 for a cupra formentor vz2 in petroleum blue with blue leather. I was offered 13k for my car which I don’t think is to bad. I think I could have got a bit more if I sold privately but as there is a plague on I didn’t really want strangers test driving my car. According to auto trader the asking price to sell privately is £13,170. What does every one think.

Agree on strangers test driving your car during the pandemic. I don’t think that driving to a seller to test drive a car is considered as an essential journey either, so that could hinder private sales, unless sellers offer a click and collect service.

As to whether you got a good price for your car; I don‘t think you should look at just the part exchange value; I’d be looking at the overall deal including what discount you got off the new car and what the overall cost was to change.

What spec was/is it?
I'm been toying with trading mine in for a VRS

I had blue leather in my previous BMW and it was beautiful. So much nicer than all the normal blacks, greys and creams.

That’s a very good point. Well we got nearly £2600 of the listed price for the formentor also managed to get a paint protection, alloy and tyre insurance also two year free servicing thrown in so I am happy with the deal.

My cupra was a black edition in white. So had the nicer wheels and bigger bucket seats. It was a last minute decision. I have just had two new front tyres fitted and four wheel alignment done on the car but never mind.

I’m looking at the matte blue Formentor with blue leather - won’t be for a few months but keen to see what you think!
We should be taking delivery in a week or so. I will post some pics as and when. From the pics it looks amazing. I wanted the copper wheels and Brembos but just couldn’t justify the extra for them.

The dealer said they had loads of white vz2’s. I guess because white is the only free colour. I really don’t think white does the car justice to be honest. Only my opinion though lol.

I think that's probably not a bad price. It probably depends on the details - eg your part ex and whether you took finance through the dealer.
Formentor looks nice in pics. However, to me it's very expensive but that's perhaps me comparing against broker price on my mk3 Cupra ST.
I think you did okay in the current market :)

So finally an update on the formentor. It’s at the dealer. We are now picking it up on the 1st of March so we get the new 2021 reg.

I think the matt grey looks great. Probably would need to see the blue 'in the flesh'. But the blue leather with blue matt should be a good combo.
I like the look of the blue leather but probably not best match for the matt grey.

I really wanted the brembo brakes but just couldn’t justify the extra really. My partner really wanted the Matt blue lol. Did you consider them.

£13,170 sounds pretty cheap for yours.

I wouldn't go off autotrader/parkers valuations, better off looking at the asking prices of the ones for sale.
Yes I think it was cheap but I really wasn’t comfortable trying to sell it privately while there is a plague on. I think it is worth around £14,500. To be honest I am happy with what they offered me. I just want the new car 🤣
