GPS tracker, would it be worth it

Hey guys, has anyone ever had a tracker fitted to a car. I have ordered my Bocanegra and with it being a rare car, I was wondering whether a tracker would be a good option. I'm going to start researching it, obviously it'll make insurance cheaper, but it would be good for piece of mind.

Also, do Seat offer this service?

Any feedback would be great.

Waste of money, I doubt the fitting, and annual subscription will bring the insurance down enough to pay for it over many years.

For 'hot hatches' the insured risk is the driver hitting a third party, and trackers won't help with that - so I wouldn't bother.

Try something like gocompare and see how much cheaper having a tracker makes your quotes.
take the savings away from the price of getting tracker fitted.

Is the piece of mind that tracker will bring worth this extra cost.

Good points. What with it being a highly desirable car, I wondered whether it would be worth it, it probably won't. The insurance quotes are about £100 cheaper. It would probably be a piece of mind thing. Probably won't be worth it in cost, but would be a help if the car was ever pinched.

Peace of mind is gap insurance, and a low excess so that should the unlikely happen, you can pick a new one up

You won't want a nicked car back.

probably the best solution is to have this gps but not to tell the insurance company and then you can find your car and check if its ok, if not

The desirability of the Bocanegra is questionable, so don't worry about that aspect.

I use Tracker (not GPS enabled as it isn't needed) on all our fleet and expect to have two vans stolen over the Christmas period each year loaded with goods. We have not failed to recover the vehicle and stock outside two hours in the eight years I have been dealing with it. Most times, the thieves are caught red handed too, a Brucie Bonus

Because we retain vehicles for four to five years, we buy Tracker Lifetime as it is cheaper than year to year subscription. On a fleet our size and with a premium of £214k, we do get a hefty reduction due to its proven success.

If your insurers do not insist on a tracker being fitted, don't bother with it unless you are particularly keen to recover the vehicle if it is stolen. These days, most are stolen with the key, look after it.

I can't comment on the usefulness of gap insurance because I buy my vehicles cash. Like any loan used to by a depreciating item, you take your chances.

Available for £30- £50.
no subscription..
relatively cheap...

but not 'official' so no insurance discount*

*in my experience, the only companies that offer discounts are not that competitive in the first place, and the discount is less than the annual subscription anyway..
