Hey all

I just bought the connects2 Auxillary input connector to enable me to connect my mp3 player to my stereo. Ive managed to get the car stereo out no problem but have 2 questions..

1. Ive plugged the big connector into the back of the car stereo, but there is a single black wire that needs to connect to something but i cant figure out what. Any idea? I have a picture of it but it wont let me add one here as i havent yet posted enough :( (only got my seat a week ago :D)

2. Where do you feed the connects2 input box to? There is no holes or rear access to the glove box, so i have no idea where i can feed it through to

Thanks for anyone that can help

Lev

Mine fitted into the existing cd changer loom, still does tbh as i haven't removed it lol
Drill a small hole for the 3.5mm jack to enter the glovebox.

hey
thanks for your reply. I guess i will have to drill a hole into my new (used) Leon to make this work :(

I have found the blue (9-pin?) connector connects into the cd-changer slot fine, but that doesnt explain the spare black wire i have???

Id be happy to send the pic i have, but it wont let me post it here

perfect...heres the link. Add the 3 Ws before the link:

You can see the spare black wire just under the bar code stick on the stereo.
The blue adapter is from the connects2 boxs and is plugged into the cd-changer loom

hey guys

I actually only just got round to trying to install this :( and ive got it in but cant seem to get it working.
I press the CD6 button on the stereo and it doesnt do anythuing. It says 'Changer' on screen, but the current CD/radio station doesnt stop playing. Any idea why this might be? Its definitely plugged into the power socker.

Also, i still cant really figure out where the black wire goes. In the first picture below i have removed the black cap mentioned in a previous post, which you can see me holding but cant figure out what to do with the wire :( )
The second link shows the wire i am talking about...circled in red :)

That's the aerial connector you're holding. The rubber that Lee was suggesting you remove is the big black blob in the middle of the backplate.

You need to strip the insulation off the earth lead for 1-2cm, wind the exposed copper conductor onto the thread and replace the rubber to hold it on. Alternatively, strip off about 1 cm, loosen one of the case screws, wind the copper onto the screw underneath the head and tighten it up again. If it were me I'd put a solder tag

onto the wire and attach it to the case under one of the screws.

Without an earth connection your interface will not work.

Just a word of warning - I had one of these Connects2 CD-changer Aux in interfaces on my last car (Ford Focus). It started returning errors on the head unit after 10 months, then totally failed in 18 months. Not a well made product. Connects2 totally unwilling to take any reponsibility for this outside their warranty.

I thought I'd try a cassette adapter, just to see how it is... in my experience these have not been good, but I have only ever tried the cheap crap from ebay and amazon... when in Tesco at lunch I saw they do a Technika one, for £15..bit step perhaps... but worth a go as its returnable... its brilliant! :)

Worth £15 if you can't be doing with the connects2 fuss.

Used a pioneer cassette adapter and although the sound was OK, sort of knew it could be better, the Connects 2 was a massive difference. I did however change the whole stereo in the end for an Alpine one with USB & IPOD connectivity which is ten times better.

I found I had to 'play' with the earth connection a little to make the electrons realise they could flow through ;-)
