Hello all

I'm losing a bit of coolant from my expansion tank. It's venting out of the overflow slot in the side of the tank.

Here's a little video of it youtu.be/36GLN62bIjM

I'm guessing the hissing noise is exhaust gas escaping from the coolant bottle, and that would mean a buggered head gasket?

Car is a Seat Ibiza 1.9 tdi Sport (non PD)

Does this sound like a head gasket on its way out?

Cheers

No it just sounds like the cap is venting, maybe it needs replaced. Not saying the gasket isn't leaking but that alone means nothing.

How hard are the coolant pipes when the engine's warmed up?

Is the bottom hose cold and the top hose hot?

Anything else you've failed to mention which you may later rely on in court? :D

Nope, guage sits at 90. I had a sniff test done on it and the head gasket has gone. It's booked in to have the head off and skimmed next week.
