head rebuilt, now wont start!!

I recently bought an 03 plate 1.4tdi Arosa.

Shortly after buying the thing I was unfortunate enough to have the timing belt decide to snap.

Had the head taken off and all the valves/seals/guides replaced and the head skimmed. After getting everything put back together with a new water pump, belt oil filter and an oil change the car now refuses to start!

The engine turns over but refuses to fire up. It seems to be getting plenty of diesel and we've checked that everything is plugged back in.

Seems to be some sort of electrical problem? The Glow plugs themselves seem to be stone cold straight after trying to start and after putting a multimeter on the plug that connects into the wiring for the glow plugs there doesnt seem to be any power getting to it.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what to try next?

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Cheers, Paul

What about the glow plug light on the dash? Does this illuminate at all or does it flash?

IS there anything physically that could be the problem? How much have you had skimmed off the head? Is it possible the compression ratio has increased passed an ideal giving you effectively a rich mixture which may be hard to ignite. Also, have you definitely got compression on all cylinders or is there a possibility that one or any of the valve's aren't shutting completely therefore no compression? Who carried out the work?
