Headlight Adjustment

Hi, any advice out there ??

I replaced my driver's side headlight bulb with no probs after it had blown.

Trouble is, i found (when i tried to adjust the beam height using the white screw) that the headlight is rocking inside and does not move when the screw is turned.

The motor is working fine (and the other headlight works as it is supposed to.

Question... Have i just lost a simple rod, or fixing that connects the motor to the headlight pivot, or should i look for something else.

Wet and windy last night, and was unable to invest time into looking. Will get out there later tonight though !

Thanks :)

I appreciate what you are saying, but my concern is that something inside seems to be missing. If i send it to the garage, they may just say that my adjustment screw is not working.

Once working, i agree that they are the best people to perform the alignment.

So, to the best of knowledge out there.... Am i missing a part inside?

can you get a pic up of where you think the bit is missing?

when i had my 1.2 for vertical adjustment it was not the scew on top of the headlamp but a white knob the you turned on the back of the lamp (above the cover to get to the bulbs)

don't forget there are 2 white screws for each headlight
one for up/down and one for left/right beam adjustment

so maybe you are moving the wrong one as the left right adjustment is quite hard to see anything moving when you look at the beam on a wall etc

as said above the beam alignment is best done at an mot place with the correct gear

Took the bumper off tonight and removed the headlight.

Basically the reflector is pivotting freely and sits pointing down when not touched. I can move it easily when i touch it, and doing this effectively makes the headlight point up & down.

The white adjuster (on the top) is connected to a threaded white plastic screw. It is this screw part which has broken. The other half of it is still attached to the reflector.

Not sure now if the light will come apart & i can replace just the plastic part, or if i'll have to fork out for a new headlight unit.

Bugger !!
