Heat wrap

I've noticed my FMIC pipes in the engine bay get very hot and I was thinking in maybe wrapping them with exhaust wrap?

Would this be a waste of time seeing as it passes through the cooler or do you reckon its worthwhile?

Why do you say that Dave? is it because it will be cooled by the cooler and will be going through at a great pressure thus not getting hot?

As above, even the spacer gaskets for the intake manifold are supposed to be a waste of time.
I'm keeping mine on though as it doesn't do any harm.
FMIC will do all the cooling you need

Yeah I guess so, changing my manifold soon so I might as well put it on as I've already bought it.

Better off wrapping your turbo, manifold and exhaust

Yeah I wish I had of done but I dont have acess to a ramp now, dont think you'd be able to wrap the manifold because its cast 1 piece but I'm going to try and put the original heat jacket back on the turbo.

I have an open cone filter drawing air in the engine compartment. The FMIC does a great job - you only have to monitor your intake temps on vag-com to see if you have a problem.

Yeah I've got my filter down behind the bumper and I think its doing a good job, I'll have to try and get myself a cheap laptop so I can get my vagcom going
