As above.
checked all relevant fuses etc.

Pulled the mirror glass off and this is what I have
they don't ever get got.
Obviously I have the switch on heat mode too.

Is this glass even a heated glass?
I know the plugs are there but it doesn't look like there's anything more though there's sticky pad there so can't really see. .

Cheers

At least you have heated mirrors, I broke one of mine last week getting it off only to find it wasn't heated, so fitted the heated mirror I had already purchased !!

I think the mirrors can give up after years of use so you might just need to get a new one, £50 seat or £12/15 ebay.

I am in fact an electrician so yeah can stretch to that.

Haven't had time as yet only thought of it this evening and the van is at the Mrs house with my kit.

I'll check that when I get a minute and post back :)

The actual voltage to the mirrors is controlled by the Central Electrics Module. You can program how long the heated mirrors are activated for through VCDS (using my guide - http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=410151)

They only work from the time the ignition is switched on and the timer shuts them off. It restarts after the ignition is switched off then back on.

It could be as simple as the contacts in the mirror being faulty and requiring a replacement to the timer isn't set long enough to warm the glass.

This makes sense.
Unfortunately vcds lite won't let me change most settings till I've paid which is a no go atm.

Mortgage has just been declined because someone has had some pay day loan business in my name :(

You can still use VCDS to check to see if they are activated long enough, usually 2 minutes is plenty.

Secondly, that sucks! My step-dad had the same issue a few years ago. Turns out someone who moved into his old (rented) property, used some bills that arrived at that address to open loans in his name.

Thankfully I always go paperless!

I burned out my heated mirrors out on the B5 Passat simply by leaving them on and expecting them to only get powered when the rear window heater was on for that car - WRONG! If that is what has happened to your mirrors, they will now measure 1.2K instead of a few ohms - and will look the heater tapes will look very dark or black.

I've noticed my t5 ones stay hot.

But as you can set them on vag com this seems silly really..

I'll see if I can set mine for 3 mins or something and see if that helps them work if not then they'll need replacing as you say

Looking at your picture, that one does not look black/burnt, though as I said, once you have checked the resistance across them you will know if they are O/C or not, the high resistance values I got were due to the carbonised sticky pads not the copper heater tapes. VCDS will not know that they are O/C as it will still see some current draw, when you unplug them VCDS will log that!

Ah I see.
All others I've had I can see the elements on the back of the glass but not this one.

I forgot the multimeter but will do it tomorrow :)

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Since my car has been in the Seat garage for a locking issue and they reset all modules the heated mirrors don't work, VCDS can't seem to see them at all, maybe need to code them back in?

Just one thing wrt the mirror glasses, heated mirror glasses will always have a connecting tag, or really 2 tags on the "mirror assembly" ie the part that you can remove/replace when you break a mirror, the 2 wires you found plug into these 2 connecting points - are there any connector tags on your mirrors?

Ok all sorted, appears they are now linked to the rear de mister since the BCM was reset, apparently this is a setting in VCDS that can be changed. Worth trying putting your mirrors to the heat position and putting your de mister on if they don't work on their own.
