Heater Clicking

A strange problem has arisen with my 01 Cupra. There seems to be regular clicking noise coming from behind the glove box, which occurs intermittently every 3-4 minutes. The clicking sounds like a slipping plastic gear and occurs for 20-30 seconds at a time, every second or so. If I turn off the heater I get a horrible constant whirring noise only broken up by the odd second of silence.

The heater seems to be working fine, I'm wondering if it’s something to do with the mechanism which directs the air to the screen/cab/floor.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

the heater flaps are all operated by small servo motors and gears so it sounds like one of those is out of line or broke inside so not tripping off properly

#8/#10/#11/#12

not sure of the battery reset used to realign em - but possibly vag-com (sorry been a while)

#13 is the heater rheostat / resistor for search reference
