help, prob with car!

hi just wondered if anybody could shed any light on a prob i have with my car at the mo.my engine management light is on, on the dash, and my traction control light is permanentely on the dash too, and i cant switch the traction control back on with the switch on the dash, it still seems to run ok, but im a tad reluctant to use it, in case i damage anything? what do you all think duff tcs switch?

symptoms would point to your maf sensor being faulty or a a problem with the TCS. but 99% likely its the Maf

drive it to see if there are power issues, if there are, try unplugging the maf sensor to see if its any better.

cheers for the reply, im sure its not the maf as i have had a new one two months ago and it is still boosting and running properly.sounds like a duff tcs switch problem then?

Don't just be guessing and get it vagcom'd its the easiest solution.

i'd be surprised if it is the switch tbh

unfortunately the maf sensor has no actual life span, so just cos its 2 months old, doesn't mean you can rule it out.

its not a guess, its a fact, TCS light and EML together 9/10 means duff maf

if you can vagcom the car, i'd imagine it'll point to that. if not, try disconnecting the battery for 10mins to clear the codes and turn off the lights so you can see if they return

thanks for all your views and comments guys my car had its 50k service today and the seat garage checked the fault codes etc and it was down to a duff maf! the mafs are temperamental things aint they ha! all sorted now though thankfully
