Hi ive been having problems with my car. (ibiza tdi 1900, R-reg AHU engine)

Happened about a year ago but been ok since. Its been going into safe/limp mode basically generally the orange glow plug flashes indicating a fault. There is no throttle response just idle.

Ive had it wired up onto a snap on diagnostic and its come up with brake pedal sensor (been changed now) (but there is two there??)

But also throttle position sensor. Ive been told it could be this or the fuel pump.

£260 for a sensor!!!! so been to the scrapy got one off a VW same codes etc.

What my big question is has anyone changed one or is this a common fault?

It seems easy to change the unit but the wire connector is somewhere in the bulk head! cant get to it unless rip the dash apart!?

Anyone help?

Thanks

Hi Mate

Im not too hot on diesels as such, but just a few ideas which i dont know if you have tried.

Its either lack of fuel or lack of air. On the fuel pump note i think that the pump is probably ok, if the pressure/volume was that low that you could only idle i think you would also have big starting issues also. (it would take longer to build up pressure/volume)

Not sure about sensors, but id check the throttle linkage and see if you can move it by hand whilst running the engine, im thinking perhaps the wire is getting stuck somewhere, stopping anything but idle.

Aside from that id check your air filter, if its filthy id replace it. If its dirty and you want to see if that is causing the problem, you can run the engine without the filter, or without the filter box clipped down, as there will be no restriction of air and you can see if that was causing the no power.

Aside from that, its really important all the vacuum hoses etc are clean and have no holes in them. But im thinking the first two are more likely.
