Help with orange light blinking ...

Hy! This morning on the way to office i noticed that at some moment one orange light came on blinking. It is like a symbol for a resistor, a spiral or something alike. I stopped the car, shut off the engine and started it again after. The light came on as usually initially (when most lights light up at ignition), then shut off togheter with the others and i set the engine on. Waited a couple minutes and the light remained off. Started to drive and a few hundred meters after the same light came on blinking again. The car seems to act normally (altough i drived inside city only, so no speeding above 50km/h).
Anyone knows what is that? I don't have the owner manual (second hand car  ) and in the small leaflet I have there is no indication of what is that light for... Hope nothing major since i drove for about 4 km with that light blinking.
The car is a Cordoba Vario 1.9 TDI GT of 1999.

Thanks a lot,
Rumburak.

Yes, I agree. It does sound like the glowplug light. If so it could indicate a fault with the brake lights, especially the switch. Check that they are working properly as it is a very common fault.

Yes, it is alike the wire inside a bulb. I'll check the lights, hope is only something alike :)

Looking a bit around on the net I found that this might indicate some sort of sensor failure and that the central is going into failure mode till the problem is solved. Could this be the case?

OK, i solved it out. The brake lights were not lighting at all at figured out it was the switch. Dissasembled it and give it a clean on the contacts, in order to have brake lights on and I'll go to dealer and get a new one tomorrow. Gave it a try around the parking at the office and the glow light not flashing any more :)
Thanks Ol'Timer for your help.

No problem.:) Looking on the bright side, the warning light has saved you from driving round for days or weeks with no brake lights.:scary:

Yeap, nice warning light :) I think I would have observed that only in about a month and half before going for holiday, when I usually check all lights and different liquid levels ;) Specially that now in the summer in Italy we have sunny days so no red light reflection on walls or other stuff behind till late in the night when it becames really dark outside.
