Has anyone ever heard of this happening ?

My car has a single mass flywheel and Sachs sintered clutch rated to 450 ft lbs and it was fitted little over 15,000 miles ago, and when my car is cold in the morning and not fully warm when going over 3500/4000 revs the clutch slips till 5k and picks up again . But once the engine is warm and up to temperature I can put it in 6th and go over 5000 rpm and. Nothing happens and the car pulls fine , so I don’t think the clutch is on the way out or anything? Really ****** off as my car booked in for remap in 4 weeks with r tech

That is weird. I assume it's just started happening?

Happened once yesterday then it’s happened twice today.. it goes away once my car is warmed up, if anything I thought it would of been slipping when it gets warm , do you think it would have anything to do with the fluid needing changed .. the garage says it is very uncommon :censored:

We got a hydraulic slave cylinder in our cars lol? If that was partially leaking could that cause an issue but warming up somehow sealed the leak...

Remember I know nothing and that may of not made sense lol

I have absolutely no idea about the clutch parts of our cars .. I am going to check the fluid and make sure it’s where it should be , am I right by saying the brake fluid is used for the clutch aswell? I only changed it January 2018..

Do any of you know how much fluid I would need for a complete flush and refill?

Maybe Hortons or Listers on here do a service kit for it which would give you an idea on amounts etc... I would contact them through their other pages or call them for a quicker response.

When it goes into R-Tech could you get them to have a look as well if needs be?

I will have. A look , I can’t understand how it needs serviced after so little miles , I really
Hope the gear box hasn’t got to come out. I think my first call is going to bleed and change fluid , I don’t know if r tech will even have a look for me Ben says they are rushed off of their feet. He originally said August for my remap but said he could just squeeze in for June

You can't get a remap done if the clutch is slipping.

It doesn't matter if you've worn it out or if it's contaminated, it's f**ked and needs changing.

@R3k1355 how can it be f**ked? Once it’s warm I can pull in 6 th gear and it is fine and doesn’t slip if it was f**ked it would definitely skip in the higher gears.I’ve only had it on 15,000 miles roughly and it states 50/60k on the Sachs website

You sent a message to Sachs? I haven't but I've contacted other parts manufacturers and found them quite helpful.

I sent a message to clucthstop where I bought my clutch from which is Sachs and I’ve asked them if they have ever seen this before . With the sintered clutch it says it will require. A new clutch face plate which is about £200 but it’s the labour of getting the gear box off especially after I’ve only had it a short time . Hopefully it is not that and a fluid flush sorts it . If
Not I have no choice but to
Get the new clutch face plate before r tech ..

You might need to inspect the oil seals when the clutch comes off, make sure it's not slipping because it's contaminated.

Well i have just had a message back from the place I bought the clutch from and he is telling g me that the sintered clutch only lasts for about 20,000 on road cars before it will be needing changed and he recommends that the flywheel and the pressure plate also get re skimmed while they are off as the sintered disc is much more abrasive and wears them both down .. he told me that the clutch grips after it is warmed up properly because it is like racing brakes (get more grip when warm)

I think I am going to do get the fluid flushed out , get for leaks , then if none of that works I’m f**ked

How much is a replacement fitted you think? How many different clutches work for the sort of power you want to put in?

Do you think instead of getting a map you get the clutch sorted and source an lsd or something while its all being done?

I think it is only the Sachs clutches what work but even they are rated to 470 ft lbs on my car . I don’t know what brand other people use when they go beyond that sort of power . And I’ve paid deposit and everything for the remap now , it is pretty **** that the clutch disc need replaced every 15/20k miles .. the organic one is 50/60k but only rated to 400 ft lbs , the disc is £200 but then the labour to take gear box off and re skim somewhere in 400/500£ labour I would think , why does this happen just before remap :censored:

I will be getting the clutch sorted before the map but it’s all just money ..

You're using a paddle clutch, they are notorious for eating the flywheel. It's probably died so quickly because they're not really designed for everyday driving.

Your other option is to go for a twin plate clutch, CG Motorsport should also be able to sort you out.
