I'm sure this has been mentioned before but cant remember.

I usually get this when the engine is cold

when accelerating slowly in 1st or 2nd the car gets to just under 2k and seems to loose power / reduce acceleration.
My foot is at the same location on the throttle.

if i give it some then it seems to performs ok.

My dump valve is also sticking but dont think this is related
found out the other day when a car pulled out in front of me and i let go of the throttle only to find i was still gunning it towards them :wtf:

so any ideas what this could be?

Your sticky DV might be having more of an influence in this problem than you realise! Get that changed and see what it feels like then.

Can i just clean the existing one?
If so where is it located and how do i clean it?

thanks

i'll get a forge one eventually but bit skint after boarding for a week.

I have to be honest, I'm not sure that the standard DV is serviceable? Might be worth doing a search for info though as if it is, I'm sure it will have been discussed already.

The location of it is underneath the top right hand corner of the engine cover. Take the cover off and look just under that area and you'll see it.

Stick a post up in the Forge sponsor section of this forum and ask that question. You should qualify for a SeatCupra.net discount and the legendary Forge customer service!

Got the exact same on our lasses LCR but have only just fitted a forge???

Can't say if it was there before fitting the forge as don't normaly accelerate slowly.

So this is not a symptom of a fault MAF?

not sure if it is a MAF or not,
Anyone else care to comment, would i see any other symptoms from a faulty MAF

I have noticed bad fuel economy recently, but not sure if it is my right foot

I don't suppose anyone has got to the bottom of this little issue have they? Mine has just started now. Nothing modified, nothing gained. Dirty Throtle Body?
Dusty Maf?

Did you manage to fix yours M.R. Davies?

I also have a similar problem.

When accelerating slowly in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd the car gets to just under 2k and seems to lose power / reduce acceleration for a second or two.

Just recently changed to a FORGE SPLIT-R Valve. Think i'll try changing back to the standard dv and see if it makes any difference.

Its going my head in!

Its funny, there must be 5 different threads on here where people have had the same problem but no one seems to know the answer. I am having a service in a couple of weeks so I will try and bring it up then if this weekends sensor and TB cleaning doesn't work. DV will be the next port of call!

So, with a visit to the garage and the 40k service complete, I thing i may have found a solution to this problem.....
Is was throwing up a Mass Air Flow error. Even thought no lights were on, tha ECU clearly had a issue!!

Quick clean of the MAF Sensor and we are ready for battle again!! (I am expecting to have to replace it at some point but for now the problem is definately gone)

The car seems to boost better and repeatably so too. Didn't realise that the boost was quite so irrecular in its preassure until all was sorted!!

My mate at the garage did it. I have taken it apart myself before and its really easy. I just was a bit conserned about fiddling too much!!! - I didn't use a turorial.

You just need to be super careful with the actual sensor. Use something alcohol based. If not, just get a newey!! I think its inevitable that I will have to at some point.

Hope this helps

Well at least we are sorted and there are 2 things to try now!!
I'l be changing the DV as the next task anyway as the OE ones are prone to cocking up!!!

Till the next problem then.....

PS, lovin' picks, nice and classy. Do like the back lights and sills...

I also have a similar problem.
When I accelerate slowly in 2nd about 2000-2200 there is a "lag" for a moment or i don't know what it is, as if tha car can't get fuel for a moment... :S
I've got Forge DV007 and BOV004 too, and same problem with both.

The bloke at the garage I take mine to said that the tolerance of the MAF is so tight between good air flow and not enough/too much that even a new one could still throw up a problem, and cause the symptoms we are having. Have you had a diagnostic check? Even though the light hasn't come on, its still might have logged a prob.

Woth a try to see if Mass Air Flow is the issue...
