Alrite lads yesterday whilst driving down the motorway i was in 5th gear doing around 70-80mph and put my foot down (not aggressive) and the car did what i can only descrive as a 'Hiccup'.

It did it a few times everytime i went to accelerate. I pulled off the motorway and tryd it en every other gear and it did it once in 4th coming back onto the slip road and again in 5th.. 1st -3rd was fine.

Has anyone had this before or know what it might be?

The conditions were wet on the motorway and i had a full tank of fuel if this may be of any clue to why it happened?:help:

Any help will be greatly appreciated as i just want her back running properly:)

Cheers Rich

Sounds like an ignition fault under high load.

Check Plugs, HT Leads, Rotor arm, dizzy cap etc

ahh well had a look and the only thing i could find was a bit of oil in on 1 of the leads (the 1st one next to the oil cap) the other 3 were dry as a bone apart from this.

could this be the cause? :(

Well the garage couldn't figure mine out, they changed the throttle body, temp sensor and other parts, can't remember from the top of my head, but it kept happening till they found out it was the crank sensor.

Never heard of a knock sensor....but I may be wrong lol

It's a cable that plugs into your laptop and the software scans your ecu for faults and gives you the codes. There's a VAG-com section on this forum, give it a search.

Just done a search on vag and theres someone down the road with one so ive pmd him.

Doesnt any normal garage have these or do those work off the engine management light?

I may sound a dummie askin but this VAG is new to me :)

Yeah I think most garages use them, but may charge to get them to diagnose your car. You can buy the cable and software from eBay but have to be wary as a lot of them are cheap crap that doesn't work.
