Holding MK3 Leon on axle stands

Hello all,
I have just recently bought a 2017 seat Leon fr technology 1.8 tsi 180hp and I am changing the rear brakes and I’ve been looking and I think it’s best to jack up the car is with a flat pad on the rear subframe bolts but then I’m not sure where to put the axle stands and it recommends not on the reinforced pinch weld as it could crush them. Does anyone know where with best to place V shaped axle stands to get the rear off the ground. Thanks all for your help

Can you now not get compliant adaptors to cushion the interface of strengthened welded area <> axle stand.

The term "axle stands" is probably not the correct modern name for stands being used to support a modern car, in the "good old dark days", axle stands had a curved "top" and that was meant for resting a one piece axle assembly onto. Later stands should be available with different "tops" and there are compliant adaptors that are designed to fit onto the top of these stands to make them suitable for use at the 4 vehicle reinforced points where the emergency car jack is used.

Years ago, I made up wooden adaptors with heavy duty "machinery cushion" material, and that worked well enough, using the down ward pointing folded metal only as a "locator" and supporting the weight of the car along the inner and outer reinforced "flat" areas.

Nowadays I've moved onto something better, but that tends to cost more money - although along with that spend of money comes a bit more user safety.
