I want to delete my egr by means of leaving it all in place but making a plate out of some sheet metal i have at work then bolting in place of the gasket between egr valve and pipe . I have an oem gasket which will be the template and ive cut an exact size copy from some sheet metal and now just need to drill the bolt holes . Will this bring the eml on ? And will this work ?

Bit confused by your explanation I'm afraid!

Would removing the innards of the EGR not suffice? I suspect you'd still have to do some tinkering with VCDS, but it might prove less work. It'll also look standard for the MOT, so removes the risk of a failure for EGR modification/removal.

Just my two penneth!

Forgot to say its the 2.0tdi bkd engine . If i remove egr or vacum pipe i will get eml light but how about leaving the egr and vacum pipe in place but just make and fit a banking plate between egr valve and egr pipe . Ive purchased the ibiza egr metal gasket with the smaller center hole to restrict the flow which ive read doesnt bring the light on so i ive made a solid plate to restrict the flow altogether like the ones darkside sell . Will this bring the light on as the egr is still in place and vacum working ?

It does bring light on. I fitted the small hole gasket that you have instead. I think the key is to reduce or eliminate the crankcase oil intake as much as the soot. Its the soot oil combo that clogs the egr up (and inlet manifold)

I did exactly the same but also drilled a small (6mm) hole in the centre and never had any issues with eml light.

Right , quick update . I fitted the bottom (in above pic) blanking plug which i made and so far after 100 miles no eml light . It also seems to have smoother revs and quicker pick up on throttle response more like a petrol engine so a much better improvement . Ive scanned for codes and no live or pending dtc .
I fitted the plate between the egr pipe and egr valve which took a couple of minutes , will post another update after more miles are covered :)

I completely removed my egr valve and cooler. I've since done 275 miles with no sign of the eml. It picks up and idles smoother.

Egr removal isn't an mot fail.

I used the allards kit. I already had it otherwise I'd have bought it from darkside as I purchased some rod bolts and the cooler delete pipe off them.

Still no light , better throttle respnse , smoother , less smoke when flooring it and at least another 20miles to £20 worth of diesel !!

It never showed on mine, Did over 300 miles! On my old Leon it poped up every 100miles.

Now it's been removed from the ecu software so I have no worries about it.
