how do i find what engine i have? the code?

how do i tell what type of engine i have.. there seem to be a few different codes on the 1.4's

its stamptd on the block of your engine

mine has a fat cover on it though

On the mk3 1.8T there is a little tag on the left hand side as you look into the engine bay from the front.

Not sure if it's any help as it's a different engine and a mk3 not a mk2

its in your reg book, first three letters of your engine number usually.

would APQ sound right? and whats the difference between that and the others

yup 60 bhp 1.4, there are loads of 1.4 engine codes etc but usually what divides them is single and multipoint injection. one is no better than another in standard form for power etc.
