This is almost certainly a stupid question, but how can I be sure I've got Bluetooth and, more importantly, how on earth do you get it working?

The car is a March '07 TFSI Sport and does have a button with a phone on it on the steering wheel. The 'communications' handbook is next to useless with just a page about Bluetooth, no mention of any car settings and it asks you to refer to the 'phone manual.

If I enable Bluetooth on the 'phone (Nokia 3110 Classic), turn the ignition on and poke any 'phone related buttons on the wheel, I get a 'Please insert phone' and no flicker of recognition on the 'phone, which makes me wonder if the car hasn't got Bluetooth but expects some kind of adaptor box plumbed in to the electrics (as the manual shows in fact).

Help!

1. it has the steering wheels controls.
2. it has the large 'MFD' display screen on the instrument cluster.

have you search for the cars bluettoth system using the phone? ie; search for bluetooth devices.

large mfd = bluetooth, as dan says.

cars bluetooth comes on with ignition if you have it.

if your unsure i can post pics tomorrow if you'd like.

Everything is done on the 'phone. Search for BT devices on the phone with the ignition on. You should see SEAT_UHV. Pair it, then set it to 'authorised' or 'make connection automatically' or whatever. Then whenever you switch the car on, the 'phone will connect...

Let us know if you get sorted!

I thought you could get the TFSI Sport with the MFD as an option? I think bluetooth was a seperate option?

Cheers! - Problem Solved - RTFM!

Thanks to all!

The problem was basically, err, me! What I hadn't done is simply read the 'phone manual - my excuse is it's the first time I've played with Bluetooth (I just forgot to pair the devices as some of you guys pointed out).

I need to RTFM (Read The Flipping Manual - or similar) - you wouldn't think I was a Software Engineer would you?

Thanks again, I'm a Happy Chappy now!
