Hi there, i've got the mk5 Ibiza and lately i've been having a problem with the front left speaker. When the bass is turned up the left front speaker rattles (as if something metallic is rattling in it). I only have this issue with the one speaker so i think it either needs removing and cleaning, or replacing.

Either way, i'll need to remove the door panel (i think), and would appreciate a step by step guide if some kind person could help me ?

Oh by the way, if the speaker does need replacing then what do i buy ?, is it worth removing them all and investing in decent speakers ? (altho these factory fitted ones sound fine to me)

All the best :)

Thanks for the quick link there FR POWER!, much appreciated.

CHRIST!!, that looks difficult to take off !. Think i'll have to get Seat to have a look at it on it's next service. It's under 3 years old, so would that be covered under the warranty ??.

It only rattles on certain songs (at certain musical frequencies), but it's annoying when it does !

Regards,
Andy

Yeah i think i'll ask them.... failing that i wonder if i can make a clear circular cut round the speaker grille and stick it back on afterwards (they are down in the foot-well so probably wouldn't get noticed). Although that's probably a bad idea because i'd only be able to get to the front of the speaker, not the rear !. aaaaarrgh !

On my old seat ibiza MK5 i had a scratch/slight dent on the passenger side, and the a guy from autorepair came over to check it hadn't done damage internally. He takes the inside trim off daily on all types of cars, and he said it was a nightmare, well infact i was with him and it took a good 40+ minutes to get it back on and thats his job lol so i would be careful doing it DIY.

i think i stick the bass to +2 but then have it set 2 have more sound from the rear of the car, and i get no problems with it at all... dont know why you need your Bass set to full as it just crackles anyway.

Hi there!, it's set to 6 and yeah it isnt as bad with the bass turned down (infact i dont hear it at all when the bass is right down)........ but i like my bass up ;)

I have it set on rear speakers slightly louder.

Best Regards,
Andy

I've got an irritating rattle from the inside door release, I think the release cable is not tensioned correctly if you pull the door release very slighly it goes away. Dealer gets a look on Friday, seeing the photo's on the link it'll be an interesting time to see what they do about it.

Take it from me, removing the door trim is a bloody nightmare.
My old MR2 Roadsters door trim came off in 10 minutes.

At one one i thought I would have to go to Seat as i couldnt get it back on.
I removed the trim to sound proof the doors and behind the speaker, also to leather the door cards. Never again!!!

I think it might be because the grill with holes in sits over the top of a honeycomb structure with nothing in between them. (mine rattles too, it's annoying as hell, even when the volume isn't up, just give it anything other than mirror smooth road and away it rattles) figure it's just bad design on Seat's part, but it's going back in when i cba to ring the dealers up as it's really doing my head in and i think it shuold be easily cureable with some furry tape.

I have to complete some more threads in order to post URLS.
So i might aswell us this chance to say if you are removing the door trim, start with the passanger door - its easier.

The two screws at the bottom of the door are a bugger to align up.

I had to cut a whole in the middle of the trim, so i could align the two metal bars which attach to window
to the bottom two screws. The hole is not visible as the door card covers it up.
