Hi,

I would like to turn the speed dependent central locking on (doors lock when you start driving). The instruction book says.. to turn on , with the ignition on press the locking key on the cntral locking system within 3 - 10 seconds. I assume they mean the locking button on the central consol. Either way it still does not wotk. Any ideas?

Ian :)

Hi :)

Your new car looks great! Great photo's!

Regarding the speed locking thingy you mention, i've not had to set mine, it was on already.

I assumed it was on by default. The instruction manual isn't very clear, or maybe it's just me! lol

My understanding of it though was I thought the locks initiate when you pull up at lights, junctions etc to prevent car jacking?? Maybe I'm understanding it wrong.

Let me know how you get on. I may have also wrongly assumed that mine is working properly. That said when the car gets to about 10mph I can hear the locks doing something.

Hmmm..................I'm doubting myself now! lol

All sorted, you had to hold down the locking button until it flashed. Then the auto locking is set. You do the same to turn it off :)

Hi Ian

Thank you for the feedback. Can you tell me if you noticed a difference in the flashing door light when you did this?

What I mean is, how can you tell if it's activated or deactivated? Short of having to go for a drive each time to test it.

Andy

On mine you can hear it click the locks on. Plus on the switches near the gear stick the locked logo lights up - hard to see in the day.

Once locked nobody can open the doors from the outside until you press the unlock button (near the lock button). I keep forgetting when I pick up the wife - she goes mad.

Ahh. This explains why the boot won't open whilst i'm idling waiting for my woman and she's trying to put her bags in! lol

Note to self - Press the unlock button Andy! lol

Thanks Steve :)

Hi,

I dont think there is a way of telling apart from driving away after holding the button down lol.

Ian

Thanks for that Ian :)

I kinda sussed it myself now. The glowing unlock/lock button in the centre kinda gave it away to me! lol Talk about the bleedin obvious!!

Cheers

Andy

It should lock when you get to 15 mph or so, then unlocks when you removed the keys from the ignition.

it least it can be set by the press of a button - i think on the mark 4 it had to be pre-programmed by the dealer ??
