gaRy cupra

I`v had my 53 plate revo stage 2 LCR for nearly 4 years now and covered 34k in that time. many times I have decided to sell up and move on but when it comes to it I cant let it go, it`s taken me and the guys everywhere up and down the uk to festivals every year and all in relative comfort and with (for the performance of the car)great fuel economy when it matters, also family holidays and everything else. My point is I cannot think of any other car with the same overall package as my LCR and that looks as good either for that matter, just wondering how long you guys have had your leons and reasons for keeping or not keeping them or any other interesting stories involving ownership.

I've owned a Leon for about 4 years, but a Cupra for about 3 months. I think it says alot that I went from a 1.6SX in platinum grey to a Cupra TDi, that was 1 year younger, also in platinum grey. I just did not want to move away from a Leon and the mark 2 just doesn't do it for me.

nearly 3 years
thought about getting rid many times, but its a great car

practical
fuel economy is ok with my 50 mile a day commute
never put a foot wrong in 30k miles that i have put on it myself
it looks good

Had my MY03 Leon Cupra for just over a year. Had to sell it to help fund a transfer of equity after me and previous missus split. Biggest mistake I ever made. With hindsight this was overall one of the best cars I've owned (preferred it to the LCR!). Great package of decent performance, economy, comfort, looks etc.

Had my MY05 LCR for just under a year. Had to sell it as new missus was pregnant and firm suspension "wasn't comfortable enough". Enjoyed the LCR now and again but not as much as the LC for some reason. Suspension, steering, on/off boost, rattles, squeeling brakes just not as much fun.

Spot the common theme. When I finally get round to buying a MK2 Leon Cupra no woman is going to take it off me. lol.

Interesting stories involving ownership? Opening the boot while still in the garage isn't a good idea (twice) as boot opens too far and smacks off the open garage door, leaving a nice dent in the boot.... Chavs in Corsas / Saxos all tailgaiting and trying to race is amusing for a short while... Smacking the front splitter off any change in road camber causes great amusement for pedestrians as they think you've crashed into something... With ESP/TCS off and worn tyres you can spin the wheels for ages...

Funniest thing was taking out my younger brother in the LCR for the first time. He's not a car enthusiast (fastest thing he's driven is a 1.2 Punto!!!). Waited for him to get strapped in and settled then started to pootle down the road. At junction I selected first and booted it to the red-line in the first 3 gears. His face was a picture as he scrabbled for the grab handle. Think he may even have let out a girlie scream!

I've had Leon since I pasted my test 4 and a bit years ago. 1.4s to learn in and until I was 21, then traded for a 2 years younger LCR. I couldn't find anything to draw me away from the leon; just an awesome allrounder.

Beauty...simply gorgeous.

Im 20yrs old and I had been dreaming of this car since I was 17 I think? I first saw it blaze by me in Mexico city...a Red one brand new which added to the effect of it passing me at around 100MPH.

Moved to Paris, France and on my 19th Birthday (yes she was a present) I went to the nearest dealership and asked do you have any LCR's...they responded what is an LCR? they searched the database but all they had in all of france were a couple cupras and then all TDI. So I found a Seat dealership in Germany with a brand new plat one; one of the last ever made and it had brembos, recaros but without the crappy sat nav and voila! I flew over got it and drove it back with a huge grin! It hasn't let me down since! 2 years strong a week ago.

It is a performer I feel, see all the tests and one thing that they all agree uppon is that its a fun car add a bit to the handling and I think its a great all rounder.

It still looks as good as any car out there (especially with RAID LED Tail lights :p) I seriously get alot of looks in Paris and when she's parked on the Champs Elysees its impressive to see people walk by it and admire it some even take pictures! and the police ticket it as well haha.

Anyway coming back from the dreamy haze...in conlcusion it's a looker, it has 4 doors, its tunable, its fast even by today's hot hatch standards and it's discrete in the sense that its a SEAT.

Oh and servicing isn't tha expensive I feel...my first service was 130EUR compared to my moms mini S at 380EUR

Bought mine with zero miles on the clock in March 2004 and never looked back. When the wife and I start a family will get a different car, but the wife has agreed I can keep it and turn it into a track day car - Yey.

ive onli had my car a week but i love every single bit of her....... had a peugeot 206 before and i wud never go back to a french car ever again!!!! i have spent the last week drivin around with a massive grin on my face like a little kid lol

i had a 2001 LEON three years ago then one year ago i changed it for PEG. 307 .. and now am back to 2005 LEON and i'll never get rid of her she is a hot car overall

9 months so far, because I like it and i'm still paying for it ;) It's the newest car i've owned by a fair bit, going from my last car which was a J reg to this 2001 :) (still makes it 7 years old though *sigh*)

Just nice to have a tidy car that doesn't make any excessive noise or bang around over bumps :p

On my second now mistakenly  sold my first silver 05 plate LCR after a year and bought what can only be described as the worst economical car for what you get the Mazda RX8, all i will say about it is stay away so miss leading! I then managed to get a straight swap 6 months ago for the RX and got my 04 LCR in black, the words night & day spring to mind, just an all round great car that does what it says (summary i didnt like the RX:censored:).

mines is a veteran. 80k miles. 52 plate.

theres absolutely nothing remotley in the price range of a LCR that looks anywhere near as good, with the performance and fuel economy. 6 gears and a turbo that kicks in @ 2000rpm means u can use it whatever way u want.

mines has steering troubles and garage cant seem to fix it. probably amateurs! i was thinking of getting a brand new LCR cause this one is run into the ground.

they only car i find better than a LCR is an audi rs4 which is about 50 grand!!

yummmm RS4 may be my next venture...but i love my LCR so much :D only had it a couple months now upgraded from a 10 year old Ibiza 1.4 sxe which i must of liked coz ive stayed SEAT!

I've had mine for nearly 2 months now and loving it.

I originally went for it as a compromise. I had been running 2 cars - one practical daily runner and one fun weekend car, so the LCR was the best of both worlds.

I'm finding that the LCR has two types of followers - there are the people who know what it is and respect it, then theres the others who see a 'boy racer' car with the bodykit etc.

Had my LCR for 5years from new, best car I have owned. It only gets used in the summer, when its dry and has only done 9600 miles. Cant see me selling it for a while yet.
My everyday car is a Leon FR+.

I've had my Leon about 4 years now and the more I drive it the more I love it! Now it's got 18" RS6 wheels I can't take my eyes off it! There is so much more tuning that can be done, and the vw mechanics underneath that body means there's plenty of mile left in the old girl yet!
