3 weeks so far really enjoying the car i find myself driving it for no reason lol altho the fuel consumption as apposed to my previous 307 hdi is shocking but i was not expecting high mpg i only use the car on weekends but atm im still drivng every chance i get lol

53 LCR

Since Feb 2006.

Luv it to bits.... cant find anything better if i sell this.

Since this time last year, still smells of water damage, lost a fortune on facelift bumpers which I sold for a fraction of the price I bought them, still, the wheels look nice.

Had my original Leon (called Courtney) (1.4 S, 55 bhp, Black Magic colour) for 10 months - sold because it had done 98k miles on a 51 plate and was a low powered 1.4 petrol and it leaked - no amount of clearing the drainage holes would work. Also I wanted POWER! And fuel economy a bit better than 30 MPG. But it never broke on me - the cambelt fell off and didn't even damage the engine. (it did turn it's airbag light on when I changed the stereo and wouldn't turn it off again ) That's why I decided to stick with Seat and Leons - I did consider an Ibiza but I wanted a big car and I love the sporty Leon look.

So.....I sold that Leon for just under £2k and bought my new Leon (called Riley), 1.9 TDi SE 110bhp (wanted 130 but too expensive and higher insurance and at 21 insurance is still a big deal for me). He's got full SEAT service history, DOESN'T LEAK (much) and returns an average of 55MPG on my 30 mile run a day (which includes town driving) and has even done up to 64 MPG (and I have picture evidence). He's got sexy alloys and front fogs, and a ton of features the old Leon didn't have, such as traction control, electric wing mirrors (including folding in) and a function to turn the passenger airbag off. Also, the original owners chose the optional paint colour Space Black (note the name ) and the optional black seats with grey diagonal dots (which I believe they may have had to pay extra for). He also has the Leon floor mats which are black and red (are these from a Cupra?) I love him very much and will be keeping him for at least three years, all being well.

I still see Courtney driving her new owner around; he keeps her much more polished than I ever did which is good and apparently he's had no problems with it, even managing to get the airbag light off (temporarily).

64mpg! O_~

Only had my car for a couple weeks, really like it, but it's causing me a few headaches already; I've had more trouble in two weeks than I did with my rubbish old car in 4 years :(

What's wrong with it? Yeah, 64 MPG - I'm v pleased lol. It's only done it once mind you!

Just little things really, dodgy turbo, broken brake light switch, electric window switches and the like - nothing major, but I had my 306 for four years and didn't have that many problems! :)

Yeah I can see that would be really annoying!! After reading about people having problems with their electric wing mirror switch, I don't dare touch mine for fear it'll break! Can't say I'd ever go to a dealer to get work done (unless your car is still under warranty) - but near me there's a specialist garage for the VW/Audi/Seat group who work at reduced prices so that's me happy :)! Also, there's a guy near here who worked for Motorvogue then started up his own company, VogueMotor, and he still uses the Seat stamp for servicing etc. Lol!

Ahh, sorry for editing my post as you were replying! I'll have to try and find somewhere near me (Gloucestershire) to get parts/repairs from I think. I've used two mechanics in the past, neither of which really seemed that great, and neither of which have the specialist stuff like VAG COM. If I can find somewhere local to get the parts from I'd definitely use them over a dealership, but for the brake light issue at least it seems like I could be going on a nice two hour journey to pickup a new switch ¬_¬

Shame you're not nearer - I could give you the numbers lol. One thing you could look at, depending on the severity of the problem, is to use an online breakers to get the parts you need and then supply them to a local garage so all you pay for is labour and not ridiculously overpriced parts. A friend of mine who has an Escort has just done that and saved herself about £100, all told.

Good shout that; cheers dude! Gonna be mega cheeky now anyway and ring SEAT, get the part number I need for my brake switch, get it from GSF and fit it myself. Worth it just to save myself the long trip to the dealership, let alone the money I'll save :) To add to my list of Leon woes my car judders sometimes when I break btw :D I think I've gone and bought the worst Leon in existence, haha.

So does mine. Nothing to worry about; it's called Brake Jag (apparently) and it's just where you aren't breaking hard enough to stop, or little enough to gently slow the car down, so it's literally worrying about what to do. Brake a little harder and it should stop.

Ah awesome, cheers Space :D I thought it may of been the tracking or something, then again I have no idea about these things.

Cos its a beast and not much can keep up ( see link below) im even spending 4 grand on clutch, fw , diff , geo set up ,ARB's and huge porshe brakes.
It gets more love ( and defanatly money ) than the missis.:D

Had mine a year this month.

Have considered selling up for a diesel but there's nothing out there that can match her for power and looks IMHO.

Comfortable, stealth quick (wasted a few boy racers in my time, they never saw it coming) and, whilst not the most economical, is no worse than the missus' MX-5. And not as gay.

had my LCR nearly 2 years now, coming from a very boring 1.6 focus..:)

first saw one back in late 2003 in yellow and fell in love with the aggressive looks. i plodded along, then various promotions etc then i was lucky enough to be in the market to buy one...

it was a choice between my one (3000) miles or a platinum one (6600) miles..even tho i wanted the platinum it was best i got the younger model...

i have had a few problems with it i.e blown turbo pipes, a bolt blew out of the engine when i was ragging it, tensioner etc...but nothing will make me give it up, even fuel prices..

i never warmed to the new cupra, although the K1 looks nice..ive never known a car to be so exclusive (LCR)....what do you drive? ,a LCR...erm a what?...most people have never heard of them even now...unless you like cars;)

the amount of nice cars that have been behind me and backed off, or cars in front that move over have been huge...i agree sort the suspension, get a map and this car will last you forever..its on 21000 mile now and still a very young engine. theres loads more to do with it...and the reason i love the 5 door aspect is, if i have a family someday, i never have to give her up...:funk:

gordon brown can try, with his congestion charge, road humps, fuel etc...but my car is my really really fun hobby..albeit a very expensive one:lol:...but when i get in and drive, still makes me smile...shes still fast as hell..

Bought my first Seat a Leon Cupra tdi 04 reg, Flash red from new. Loved every moment of ownership. It looked great and and never failed to impress with its performance. Handled good and was economical to run. Really loved this car!

Visited local dealer when the mk2 Leon FR first came out. The car was striking. Beautiful lines. But was not ready to change car just yet. Then had a test drive in January 08 and was sold on it. After a lot of soul searching (cos I still loved the Cupra) finally decided to buy the FR and I have no regrets. In my opinion the FR looks stunning especially in white. I still think the mk1 Leon looks great. Wish I could have kept the Cupra as well.

I nearly sold mine when sprog number 2 arrived, but in the end financed the Octy 2 VRS so I could keep the FR TDi and sell the Pug 406 (don't laugh - it served a purpose!). Since July 07 its done 36k miles on top of the 29k it had already done since Oct 04 and its only ever had a glow plug changed due to faults. Anything else changed is due to upgrade temptations and no will power. It averages 46mpg on the daily 160 mile round trip commute into London and if I stick to the limits I can eek 62mpg out of it.

What else is there as quick, as cheap to fuel and service, as much fun and as reliable ? Nothing much I can think of!!

No worries and don't worry, I was really alarmed until my dad drove it and told me (he's a mechanic). And the real name's Bec :)!
