Went to the dealer last week to have my LCR horn fixed.

It had gone monotone and very wimpy and they said that it would only be a twenty minute job :(

So I took it in and waited in the waiting room, and waited ...... eventually they came back and said that the horn wasn't where it usually was :wtf: and that they would have to take the bumper off to fix it :-o

So after they said that I would have to book it in they also said that it had only one horn! (a dualtone)....when I got home I had a look through the grille and I am sure that there are TWO HORNS

Am I going mad or is the dealer being a numpty again?

And does the front bumper really have to come off to replace the horn/horns? :banghead2

Maybe they finally relocated the horn! In the two years I have had Leons, I am about to have the 3rd horn replaced under warranty. They keep going due to water getting to them!

Hi GRD,

I've just gone through horn hell too.
The two-tone horn went monotone, and it's taken SEAT just six months to fix -
Three times they fitted a similar tone horn in place of the faulty one.
Then they told me that the LCR has only a single tone... so I asked them why there are two horn units?

Yes, the bumper has to come off. Make sure that they don't break the mounting brackets - the bumper/wing join then moves and rubs the paint off the wing.

Good luck!

Hi,

All Leon's and Leon Cupra's have the Horn/s located on the N/S/F behind bumper and to the side of radiator, which can be changed without bumper removal, common to get water all over them from road/Tyre and have modified so can be fitted at different position to avoid this... some are single and some are dual tone...
Cupra R models however, have dual tone horns ( 2 ) behind bumper, in front of radiator and need bumper to be removed to replace, they are mounted here because the Intercoolers are in normal horn position, so no room.
Hope this helps?
Jochen.

I have purchased a PIAA dual horn for my LCR and was gonna try and fit it tomorrow as I thought I would just be able to jack the car up and take off the sump tray/cover, but reading this post is it absolutely necessary to remove the front bumper completely???

you can access the horn from underneath the car, and also from the front n/s wheel arch - undo it and u'll see it - its in the same location that a cold air feed would be located if you install one... in the front n/s of the bumper. (Well on an LC it is)

On an LCR I'd assume the intercooler gets in the way?
