How many miles per full tank?

Just wanted to get some info from other TDI owners.

How many miles do you do per full tank? And what fuel do you use? Any other info like remap/BHP would be useful.

Shell Extra & Millers DPS4.

P-Torque Remap @ 185BHP

384 Miles

This doesnt seems as much as I would like tbh - I don't drive like a idiot all the time, just on occasions.

Just filled my car and the dash computer said 475miles remaining, but by the time I got home (1 mile away) this was down to 445miles remaining.

I used to get around 400miles from a tank with round town driving.

That's standard with standard BP and a single dose of Millers DPS4.

1.9PD Tdi 105bhp. Standard.

Regular Diesel with Millers DS4.
Normal driving with the very odd blast on motorway.

Brim to brim getting around 420/50 miles a tank @~58ltrs/fill.

Sounds like you need to do an ECU reset and ease off the heavy right foot.
I use the same fuel and additive with a Custome Code Phase 1 map running roughly the same power, and i see 600+ from each tank with ease.

I tend to get about 400 ish miles, down to a 1/4 full, but I don't like to see the low fuel light so rekon I could get 500 if i kept going.

Have a standard FR 150, sometimes use Millers, depends if i remember! Can't wait for a remap, just got to save the pennies!

I'm well out then! I don't have a heavy right foot - or I don't think I have.

I drive around with the current MPG showing and its my aim to keep the numbers high as possible, I don't really go above 2k RPM when driving normal, and like I say sometimes I give it a good boot (why buy a 150BHP car if ur not gonna use it once in a while)

So resetting the ECU would help? Any other things to look out for?

Highly tuned PD130 Fabia. Approx £40 to brim it when the buzzer first goes off. Get over 500 miles with a mixture of driving until the buzzer goes off again. :) Also have to factor in the propane though, which I tend to not bother thinking about. I have it as a performance enhancer, but it does help with economy too.

usually 370ish on a LCR :)

sounds like you do use your right foot a bit...
what are you typical journeys like? motorway? local roads? a / b roads? how far for each journey? stop start in traffic?
doesnt sound like you get alot to a tank, but like you say you do give it a bit now and then!

Very stop start journeys mon to fri - live very close to work. Takes me 6 mins to get to work but most of that time I'm idling or going 10-30mph.

Then it gets a good blast on a weekend, no where near redline though, just a good poke up the dual carridgeway.

Surely you guys boot it aswell though on occasions? or is it just a case of my car isnt going on long enough runs during the week to see a high MPG return.

I've got myself all paranoid now something is wrong. One thing I have noticed that made me wonder is the dash current MPG readout goes to around 11MPG if I floor it in 3rd gear on a flat road from 30MPH. Is this normal? Sometimes I see single figures of around 8-9MPG when doing this up a hill.

when i brim my tank it costs about £60 on that V-Fuel shell diesel and i get around 400miles with day to day driving, work and back, then like someone else mentioned, boot it occasionally down motorway and that, cruise at around 80mph.

i think thats your main answer, the type of journeys you have.
I often get 33/34mpg in my LCR going to work, the journey is fairly constant in nature along the whole route, but its not till 4-5 miles or so i can expect to have achieved 30mpg. The first few miles give poor mileage even though its almost perfect for petrol (45 mph or so) simply due to time to reach temperature.

If like you i did short journeys each time and add to this stop start conditions id get far worse mileage. (there are many LCR drivers who report 22mpg!) oh and its cold too which just exagerates this effect.

sounds like your problem there. does your engine get up to temp.?

i do the same kinda journey. 5miles to work if i cruise to work i can get average 40mpg for that 10-15min journey. but on the way home i can struggle to get past 33mpg because traffic is heavier and its more uphill.

on a cold morning below 4'c i my engine has just reached temp when i get to work.

to answer your original question how many miles to the tank, I've driven from Glasgow to my mums in Wiltshire (mainly 70mph on motorway) on 1 tank about 380miles that was when the car had less than 1000miles on the clock and before i knew about venting.

With regarding to my little Ibiza with a 'normal' fill-up (about 40-42 litres) I usually get about 350 till low fuel light and on to 380 before I feel the need to fill up.

With venting I can cram in over 50 litres and as a result tank range is more like 450+, possibly venturing up to 500 miles if I drive like gran does.

OK, When I think back to mid December when I had my P-Torque treatment done its a 2hour motorway journey each way for me.

On the way down to P-Torque I averaged 49.9MPG

ON the way back home after remap I averaged 51.1MPG. So things were defo ok back then - the only thing I've done since then is used the Silicon Dielectric grease on the MAF, not that I thought there was a problem but just thought and read that ppl were doing it to protect MAF contacts.

I'm going to buy my VAG-COM liscense at the end of this month and was just wondering if theres owt I can look out for on there?

My engine temps are just about upto temp when I get to work and vice-versa, but on a really cold day and heavy traffic the temps still havn't got off the bottom.

I must move further away from my work place, but then again I'd end up wasting most of my life waiting in traffic........no win situation really!

Thanks for all the input!

i have a leak in one of my turbo pies that run down somewere near the d/s wheel, can hear it hissin air out liek a whoosh sound, garage told me a clip had gone rusty and broke which is why it was making the noise, mabe thats why my fuel consumption is a little low? even though the car does say its geting 55mpg at 50mph in 6th.

ok, so you know the car was ok mid dec. What sort of mileage were you getting doing the same types of journey as you do now early december. ie going to work etc?
was this the same as now? if so then this indicates all is well and its just the short trips.
However if you are saying that the mileage was much better early december and has got worse and worse since then perhaps there is an issue.
Anything to do with the maf can have an effect on mpg.

In all honesty I dont know. Cos I had a big holiday just after remap and have only just started work again.

Could I compare my MPG vs someone else at a given speed (motorway cruise over say 5 miles) using a certain gear or is there something that could be only affecting my low speed fuel usage and not high speed fuel consumption?

What I am going to do is not boot my car at all on this tank of fuel. Just to see what improvment I have over my last tank of 384 Miles.
