Whilst giving the car a good wash on the outside and interior today, i thought i'd take the engine cover off and see what state the engines in as well as checking all hoses.
As you can see from the pics, its a bit of a mess. Blooming company cars, they may be maintained on time but they aren't cared for as well.
and close up of dirt
What's going to be the best way of cleaning this up? Is it going to be a case of soaking it for a while to remove most of the crap or are there any other ways. I think i'd either like to have this polished or painted, not quite decided yet but will be doing it all myself.
Also noticed that the coil packs on the first two cylinders (drivers side) were raised like they had been pulled up at some time only about 4 or 5 mm but i've pushed them back down, i'll keep an eye on them.
And another thing, i've read the threads on the site regarding smoothing the air box but mine looks nothing like the ones in all the pictures i've seen. Is this normal. My car is a 2001 LC.
airbox with lid removed. Air feed come into the box on the side nearest the wing.
Air feed pipe, i've only seen the feeds being rounder, not oval like this one.
Also, the airbox looks different internally from others i've seen, there are hardly any bits that need to be removed to smooth it.
