Stuck this in the standard Leon forum too but mines actually a CUPRA.

Had a call from the dealer warning me that if the battery charge drops to 0% for driving in electric then the car will refuse the start at all, even if there’s petrol in the tank.

The tip for rapid self charging is to put the car into hybrid mode and set the power reserve manually to 100%. Managed to get around 50-60% charge in just over an hour of driving.

Just a heads up…

Interesting...! I've never seen mine drop to zero. It will always go to 1 percent and then kick the petrol engine in for my last couple of miles to get home. Even on 1 percent the car will still drive all electric up til about 10mph though?

Sure the car will protect the battery at all costs under normal conditions. I think to achieve a truly flat high voltage battery something will have gone seriously wrong. The display indicates useable power in the battery - so 1% is not 'flat'. For example, the battery is say 12kW capacity, but you only ever get to use about 9kW of that, to ensure the reserve is never depleted. As Ollie says, the petrol motor will kick in if you get close to display 0%, unless of course you have no petrol!
