Does anybody recognise it? It's just had over £600 spent on it (new steering rack, ball joints, cambelt and a full service)

It drove very well and seemed to go like I remember they should, and somebody has spent a lot of time and money on it (besides the £600!). re-furbed 16" ronals, I spotted wheel spacers, it had polished bonnet lifters, an OMP strut brace and the brakes were very sharp. Despite the standard exhaust and airbox it sounded like it was on twin carbs!!:funk:

I think the wheel alignment is out though as it corners like it has bannana skins for front tyres!! a world apart from the 200BHP FTO I currently drive.!!!

Was it somebody's on here per chance? It could be mine this weekend all going well[B)]

Cheers,

Gary

Don't know the car, but I saw that ad on Pistonheads and reckoned it'd be worth a punt. Would make an ideal stable mate for my ginger Leon lol.

You lucky lad if you go for it [B)]

Should be a straigh swap for my FTO if all goes well, the power and handling is awsome (tein type flex coilovers and fully polybushed with tein adjustable pillow ball top mounts) But paying 15 each for quid for spark plugs, and there are 6, isn't!! neither is 350 miles to an 80 quid tank of super!!

never got this in the end! went back for another look and to hopefully do the exchange, took it for a longer drive and heard the destinctive sound of a fooked rear wheel bearing, I also noticed that the rear left kept getting all "squiffy" over mid-corner bumps so the damper had definately gone too. these issues were very miner but together with the short MOT (2 months, mine has 12 months!) made me leave it and keep the FTO. Also just got a date for an operation on my left leg in August so i'll need the FTO's auto for a while after too. I'll be back in a mk2 valver though rest assured!!! the engine noise, the boxy arches and the way they turn you into a giggling idiot will prove too much not to get one!! TTFN
