Hi All,
Now the time as come with a frosted up window screen I've really missed the front heated window screen on my previous car.
It takes an age on the cupra for it to clear without getting into the temptation of starting it and returning to the house having a cuppa while it clears and also using the kettle hoping the window screen don't go crack !!!!!
Also finding the windows inside the car a swine for misting up, just wondering if fellow Leon owners have the same problem and if you have any decent solutions.
Was considering buying some anti de misting spray for the inside of the car if this works or not I would appreciate any feedback and recommendations.

Hi,
Not sure they do a cupra in diesel ?? And yes previous car was a Ford ST just convenient having the front heated window sreen.
Overall the ST is no match for the Cupra 300 and it's a probably a small price to pay and something I can live with

Have a heated windscreen on my current Corsa E and clears the windscreen in under a minute. The faint wires in the windscreen take some getting used to and can glint slightly on a bright sunny day.

To be fair I can live with scrapping the window screen or using de icer spray. It's the fact the inside is misted up and takes an age to clear without wiping it and smearing then all the glass.
I know you can buy the anti misting spray just wondered if anyone had tried it

Dude maybe your windows are pretty dirty inside.Try to clear it a little bit better. Its kinda hard to keep them clean from inside, especially if someone smokes inside the car.You can find some good vides on youtube how to proprerly clean windows,I can recommend one from ChrisFix,you can find it :)
But heated front screen is good stuff no doubt about it.

The clue was in the word Cupra.... just sayin

Why?

I know this site is really geeky but does everyone here really know the tech specs of every other model?

I only drove one Mk3 (a petrol) and found it uncomfortable and claustrophobic, not to mention poor value at the asking price, so I walked away.

Not sure how that helps me with misted up windows unless you had the same problem on your test drive and along with feeling uncomfortable and claustrophobic this put you off also

OK.

Practical old-school advice.

Check there is no water ingress in to the interior- many VAG cars leak.
Check for damp carpets etc.

Don't use recirculate modes on the AC, it keeps the humidity in the car longer.

Place a dehumidifier bag on the rear window shelf to dry out the interior.

Why what?

I think you should stick to Fords, not the other way around.

A MK3 Cupra diesel. Hahahahaha

Irony,
the only Ford I ever had leaked water into the interior constantly and was a bugger to demist. :)

I have used the anti-fog screen spray - it works ok. Slight downside is slightly bad night vision as it creates a star effect with the headlights. Maybe I could have polished it better. But as people have said getting clean smear free windows is pretty difficult. I would try it - plus side is it prevents the bad misting you can get inside.

Anti fog spray shouldnt do that.Your windows are really dirty if you see star effect at night.I used sonax stuff to clean front windscreen and its big difference now at night.

Climate screen is an option on mk7 golf , wonder why it hasnt filtered down to other MQB cars

" Perfect visibility with no heating wires –
the climate windscreen from Volkswagen

Clever windscreen with conductive layer of silver provides the required heat in winter
Heated wire-free windscreen available to order for numerous Volkswagen models

Winter is here and every morning many motorists thus face the same problem: a frozen windscreen. Neither ice scraper nor de-icing spray provides the perfect solution. Volkswagen is offering a genuine alternative with the climate windscreen. It heats up without the use of any filament wires, thus providing perfect visibility. Any renewed misting or icing up is also prevented.

Heated windows are not a new invention in vehicle manufacturing. For decades, fine filaments inserted into the glass as an optional extra have been preventing windows from misting up and ensuring that any layer of ice quickly thaws. When facing oncoming evening traffic, in particular, or when the sun is very low, the fine metal wires can, however, become visible to the driver.

With the climate windscreen, Volkswagen has found an excellent solution for perfect visibility. In this wire-free system a wafer-thin electrically conductive layer of silver within the laminated glass provides the required heat by converting electric current. Consuming no more than 400 to 500 watts, the window quickly warms up and thus becomes a defrosting aid. Within the bottom section of the windscreen, invisible from the outside, there are also filaments that act as windscreen wiper heaters to prevent the wiper blades from freezing to the glass. Volkswagen is offering the wire-free heated and infrared-reflecting windscreen as an optional extra for the Golf, Golf Sportsvan, Tiguan, Sharan, Passat and Passat Variant models. Prices start at €340, depending on model.

However, it is not only during the cold winter months that the innovative windscreen is a help. In the summer, the thin layer of silver acts as a passive heat shield. As it reflects up to 60 per cent of the summer heat, it is able to reduce the inside temperature by up to 15 degrees more than conventional glass with green tinting. As a result, the air-conditioning system is able to cool a car that has been parked in the sun down to a comfortable temperature much more quickly.

The leons are a bugger for misting on the inside of the windscreen overnight, no doubt this will turn to ice when it gets colder.
I've noticed though it helps where you park (for some reason).
I've tried every method, cleanest windscreen in the country, aircon on and off (no recirc as we emit moisture and that just stays in the car), no obvious leaks. Dehumidifiying bag is helping though.

On de icing I use tepid water, less heat exchange and just washes the ice off.
