Hi all

Have had a little look through the forum (using the search etc and can't find what I'm looking for!

I have an issue with the boot lock on our 10 plate Ibiza 1.6tdi cr sport, I've looked at a few things and am a little stuck so would like some assistance please.

I've checked the fuse and that appears to be fine as the rest of the central locking works, I've checked the boot switch (seat badge) for continuity with a multimeter and that seems fine so I ruled that out.
I've even replaced the boot solenoid and it's still the same..... so got a second solenoid thinking the first was faulty and guess what i'm in same position

Can anyone offer assistance?

For information

Once ruled out the seat switch and solinoid was ok, turned attention to the wiring.
There are two block connectors to the side of the boot, pull these apart and clean. Your looking for the black block once this was cleaned up it worked perfectly!

It didn't look dirty but this must have been the bad connection

I've only ever noticed the connector for the lock being dirty due to water penetration. In the future, I'd be a bit wary about checking with a multimeter unless you are running a lot of current down some of these lines, the same goes for checking voltage levels with things unplugged - as when there is a bit of resistance, the open circuit voltage will still look good (been there done that years ago when in a hurry), anyway your problem has gone - for now, I'm guessing that you would have rather found really dirty/dry connector pins - spraying in some WD40 and "working" these connectors a bit usually helps clean the contact pins back to "good enough".
