V5 is an extra cylinder + 300cc and same 150bhp as a 16v until they superchipped em up by 20bhp

Mmm, good point...

I just expected a bit more when you go up to 2.8, but I guess considering how much it can be modded (700+ anyone?), it's in a very soft state of tune when it gets fitted to the Golf etc.

Only ever seen one in the UK, which was a LHD import, and was sold back on to the continent IIRC
