ibiza cupra coolant capacity, how much?

how many litres water does the cooling system on the ibiza approximately hold. The bottom hose to the rad had a split so we've replaced and drained down the system to refill with fresh water/coolant.??? So far we can only get 2 litres of water/coolant mixture into her. I am assuming there is an air block somewhere. How can I over come this?

Is there an air bleed valve anywhere that needs to be opened when filling her up or is it just a case of filling up through the white header tank???

we replaced my bottom rad hose friday, just fill it through the expansion tank as per usual and squeeze the rad hoses to ensure no air lock. cant remember how much it took to fill though

you will need to run the engine with the expansion tank cap on for the coolant to be pushed around the system.

You might find by draiing the bottom hose, what was in the engine was not drained, which might explain some of why you can't get much in there.

You will need the engine running to "push" the coolant around the engine, best have about 3l + of ready made OAT coolant. First set the heater controls to max hot, then with the header tank cap off start the engine let it idle adding coolant when needed and squeezing the top and bottom hose of the rad. Once upto normal running temp with the coolant at max replace the header cap and take for a couple of mile drive, then let the engine cool for 30min and recheck coolant level. job done!!

about 4 litres in total. 4.5 lt if you drain every single bit..
however i suspect its not been totally drained.

Its self bleeding so no bleed valve. Simply fill from the header. Have the engine running when you do this. let it sit and cool with the expansion tank cap loose.
Tighten go for drive, check regularly and keep eye on temp. If alls circulating, level ok and temps ok then jobs a good'n

You don't need to do that btw... the heater controls mearly diect the flow through the heater matrix or not.. the matrix is constantly 'open'.

Yes but if the heater is not blowing hot air you know there is a air lock its good practice to do so anyway
