My alarm has stopped sounding. The indicators still flash, tested by locking the missus in the car. I have the solid red light on door for 30 secs before it starts flashing confirming there is a problem. I have tried re syncing the keys ect so it leaves only one culprit the Siren box. Does anyone know where this Siren is located on my car?. With no info on the web no Haynes manual and no info in my car manual i am getting a little frustrated that everything on this car seems to be cryptic in some way. Possible location going on polo gti's forums are under the scuttle panel or under the drivers wheel arch riveted onto the body???(Wtf why vw??). Help appreciated.

Managed to get this for you. Have you scanned the car for diagnostic codes?

Thanks Hawkers that is handy. I have scanned it with torque app, no errors but not vagcom as my old cable did not seem to want to communicate with the ecu. All the other alarm features work so that points to a dead siren pack. Glad it not riveted to the car. Cheers.

I'd reckon either way that you need to remove that alarm siren box as it has the alarm's siren battery in there.

People have managed to carefully cut the casing open and unsolder the battery pack - and so check to see if the rechargeable batteries/battery is dead - and if so, bought suitable replacements.

Note, the factory fitted battery pack is a pair of cell stacks held together as a single 4 terminal battery unit, these it seems are not available anywhere, so you just buy a pair of cell stacks and tape them together.

Somebody, from Italy, on one of these forums has done this work, but it seemed that one of his replacement batteries was a dud, and he has yet to post back saying his repair has been a complete success.

Old thread I know, but I'm wondering if it was the horn in your case as I'm having the same problem with my Ibiza?
