on naturally aspirated cars you don't get much, 5bhp probably, it's more about giving a smooth map

that's basically it then! just don't feel robbed when you aren't getting figures like turbo cars get because it's much easier to tune them! :D

I really wouldn't bother, the amount you spend is not worth the gains at all. You probably won't even get 5bhp and the mpg savings will be so small you probably won't notice it.

I have to say I'm pretty sure my mpg has got slightly worse since a remap - at first thought it was just because I was thrashing it but I've noticed in general it isn't quite as good, so wouldn't get too excited about the economy gains! Hasn't got dramatically worse though, and definitely worth it for the power! Although not so sure if its worth it for a n/a engine

all of the 1.4 petrol units can achieve up to 15 more from a remap, i know i have had it done. if you get a good exhuast and induction kit you could end up seeing 20 in total

When i had my old 1.8 focus, i fitted a cosworth manifold, down pipe and sports cat with a milltek catback exhaust. Had an AmD map fitted on and got 150bhp with matching torque from a standard 115bhp. Cost me around £1000 for everything (cosworth stuff second hand off ebay).

If you have the money and want to be different, go for it, but if you are just wanting more power like turbo power, then it's really not that much worth it.

I only did what i did on the focus because not many people did it (now everybody does it, lol) and wanted to be different.

That pro tuning says i can remap my 1.2 by around 10hp, surely that's not possible? if so i may be interested :p

not worth remapping take the money and treat yourself to something nice, if you want power from n/a engines uprated cams are your best bet , you won't see any real mpg saving to be honest

I used to fiddle with old mini engines Managed to get 115BHP and 125MPH from a 1275 one. The best mod for the money IMO for the A series engine is a lightened flywheel, the cam was the next best bang for buck. this flywheel mod made such a difference it was shocking. maybe the 1.2 or 1.4 VW engines would get the same benifits

I think that the standard flywheels on these modern small engines will be nearly as light as old school lightened lumps. I'd say best bang (in your head) for the buck is a new rear badge (16V) - that's the one to go for(kind of snigger - sorry). The 1.2 will sort out your insurance costs for the mean time - then it should be FR time before moving on to Cupra! That was intended for stezo2k, 15BHP extra for any 1.4, I'd think that the best boost that my wife's 1.4 BBY engine could get would be from a tail wind, higher octane fuel might stop it pinking a bit though as that annoys me when I drive it sometimes.
