ain't that the truth! :)
cannot wait to own one

it's all about emissions
like the Aston Martin Cygnet (a Toyota IQ, which is like 4-5x more in price)

same here. Double garage - one side mk2 gti other side Audi S3/RS3 - thats my dream!

yeah, the only reason aston are doing that is to reduce their overall emissions score as a company isn't it haha who'd want one though

It is mostly about emissions, you're right (hence why Ferrari are talking about building a hybrid), but as to who would buy one, Aston say the Cygnet is to be sold to their existing customers as a second car, for when they don't want to use their DB9s/DBSs. You may think that's strange, but the owner of one of the other companies in the business park I work in has a DB9, a Bentley Continental GT, a Jaguar XKR and a Merc S-Class amongst his collection but almost always comes to work in a Smart.

I can see that Cygnet selling quite well with as u say people who already own a aston as a second car they use to go to work and use the DB9 at the week ends

I love the way this tread has gone from the impressions of a Ibiza SC to talking about a Aston :)

right then, back to topic people!
have to say though i agree with you about what you said about your old ZS. It's pretty much why i chose the 1.4 Ibiza as opposed to the TDI. 16v power ftw! :funk:

Although even that has drawbacks , its got nothing to give low down. Made life interesting recently when i arrived at an empty set of traffic lights, two lanes, one for straight and left, other for right only. I was in the left lane, as they changed to green i realised i was in the wrong lane so as there was nothing around me planted my foot so i didnt have to wait for the car coming from the other direction. Except the power didnt come in until i was halfway across the other side of the road, like epic turbo lag or something. Must've looked funny though. (completely not dangerous btw ;))

you can still get loads of power from small turbos engine, if company know there demand there then they will develop tuning products for it. For example the corsa vxr is a 1.6t and it can be tuned from 190bhp to around 340bhp and then evo and scooby have 2ltrs and they can be tuned to mega power :)

yep, true. But the maximum potential for a 1.6T is going to be less than the 2.0tfsi...
I've heard corsa VXR's are pretty unreliable when modded. A mate has one and he's scared to modify it!

small is good as far as inclined as the 1.2tsi dsg has pace, economy, and good low down torque what more can you ask for,and good looking sporty car its quiet and handles well even on the 16in alloys and build quility is better than a friends bmw.

We've had our 1.2TSi DSG 5 dr SE for about 3 weeks (1200 miles) now:

Likes: Build quality is good, much prettier that the other VW+DSG platforms, steering not as dead as a Polo, very pokey for a 105hp engine, well balanced suspension, good grip with standard tyres

Dislikes: horn (embarrassing to use), more wind noise than I was expecting (worse at 50 than 70 for some reason), turbo-lag when pulling away from a junction

Overall: 9.7 out of 10

I've had mine for coming up to a month now. Like the engine, handling, looks and equipment. Dont really have any dislikes other than minor things like the fuel cap lock and lack of ESP.

Ive been given a Seat Ibiza 1.4 Chill on a 60 plate as a company car while my Mazda is lent out to a customer and I must say its quite nippy for a 1.4, its not a TSI engine but I can feel a massive power difference once the revs go up over 3500, it just pulls like a train from 3600 to about 5200...

Noticed the cornering front fogs tonight on the way home from the pub, I have mixed feelings about them, yes they are nice in theory and light up the corners nicely but I like symmetry and it annoys me to see only one front fog light on.

Also, on the dash board in the digital display, it displays my speed in Kilometers per hour, is there any way to change that to miles per hour?

Other than that, I cant fault the car honestly, its a good one! Its quite funny actually because my partner has a Mk2 Ibiza and now im driving the Mk5! I like it!

Yeah they are quite nippy, the engine isn't as bad as some make out.

I agree about the cornering fog lights looking a bit daft, especially when your in reverse and they both light up.

RE the km/h speed read out, it's the same in most new VAG vehicles and can't easily be disabled as it is there to comply with UK laws

What law? Ive driven over at least 8 brand new model cars in the passed 3 weeks and this is the only one ive seen do it!

No idea but it is 100% the same in a lot of other VAG cars and Mercedes do it too, it annoyed me when I first noticed a few years ago, has always been a popular topic on the forums.

The law is supposedly that all UK cars must display speed in both km/h and mph, in the old days the speedo would show both but in cars like the Ibiza the speedo only reads mph so km/h has to be displayed on screen.
