Ibiza Sport or SE ?

Someone wrote my missus' diesel Beetle off when it as parked up so now looking for a car to replace.
Due to mileage , looking at small petrols. Clio 1.2 seems quite underpowered.

However had a look at a 59 plate Ibiza Sport today and liked the look of it, though we had to leave as the salesman was being an idiot and I couldn't take him anymore!

So what can anyone tell me about the 1.4 petrol engine in Ibiza. What is real life economy?

Also there are some Sport and some SE models advertised - what is the spec difference?

Any help would be appreciated.

have heard that people are unimpressed with the 1.4 being a bit lazy and unresponsive. as for economy somebody will roll up and let ya know

Off the top of my head the Sport has slightly lower and noticeably stiffer suspension, more buckety seats, nicer alloys, leather steering wheel and gearknob (the SE may also have this, it's much much nicer than the normal plastic one!) 'leccy windows all round (SE may have this?) all round disc brakes
