HI Guys and Girls

Does Anyone know if the 1600 sport or 1800 turbo injectors fit a 1400 engine?

Many Thanks

Alex

Because I am putting an uprated cam into place, porting and polishing the head, balancing the crank and lightening the flywheel and putting a new exhaust on the car so I thought i would uprate the injectors before I get the car chipped.

what injectors are in it at the moment ?

should be a Vag or Bosch number on it

probably would be spec enough to cover it but can be checked

I think that they are bosch ones. So do you think that the injectors will be ok. Is there anything else that I have missed of that would restrict the engine in anyay that I could change to get more power, other than staurting to to turbo conversions etc.

I thought about a new petrol pump and uprated fuel lines??

but unless you're raising the rev limit significantly you won't hit the limit of the injectors?

you're not putting any more air in, so it needs no more fuel

yeah, but you still don't need any more fuel?

std ones will be fine, 1.8T ones will be way more than you need.

OK, Did not realise that the standard injectors could produse the extra fuel that would be required by the modifications.

Do you not think that the uprated fuel pump and fuel lines will be required?

Once all the modifications have been done, how much HP do you think the engin will prduce?

yeah, ECU tells injectors to open longer (if required)

the fuel pump will be fine, you won't be making it a fire breathing monster with a mild cam & porting.

I think that it'll be running ~70-75bhp now std, and you won't make more than 85bhp

So guys do you think that putting an uprated exhaust on the car would make much difference and make it more powerful? or would it just make the the engine just breath better and just make the engine rev more freely??

Do you think that I can get the car past the 100bhp mark and if so what would be needed?

I was thinking about putting twin webbers in the car but would this create lots of problem with the drive by wire accelerator peddle etc

you either need to rev it (a lot), or fit some FI to increase the air into the engine.

I think you'd pretty much need a fully built engine with ITB's, a balanced crank etc - but it's not a popular engine - so you may not find all the parts are available. that'd be about £6k for a pukka setup.

TSR used to import an italian turbo kit for the 1.4 8v, that was about £4k - and took it to more like 140bhp

however, throwing money after it is daft when you can pick up 1.8T cupra's for £4k now anyway.
