Is it me or is the current colour choice for the facelift Formentor just a bit uninspiring? I’ve got a pre-facelift Asphalt Blue VZ2, maybe a bit too dark but at least the pre-facelift range had Desire Red (even though you had to pay extra for it unlike I believe on the Leon?). I was thinking to get red for the next car.

I’m looking at getting another Formentor - the single no extra cost, Fjord Blue is a strange colour and Dark Void (purple) just a bit non-resale friendly and, well, a strange choice. Other that that it’s monochrome from White to Black via Grey and also matt brown (OK, Bronze - and I’m not paying £2K for paint). Where’s Desire Red, or any Red for that matter? Forest Green on the Born VZ is a nice colour too, as is Aurora Blue.

Anyone had a sniff or a sneak preview of the 2026 colours? Indeed are there likely to be any changes as I don’t think the palette ever changed for the pre-facelift?

Funny enough I was watched a snip of 5th Gear reviewing a VW Thing.

Comments were - Bring back buttons, info system is rubbish but the all agreed the color choice was rubbish.

Dont know about the new model but i have to agree the choice of paint is very poor.

Apparently Dark Void (purple) is the new colour for MY26, still missing off the PR info sheet on the car:

I’ve now seen Fjord Blue in real life, looks nothing like the sample above. What a dull, dark choice of colours (how about photos of the car in sunlight Cupra, instead of moody twilight photos)?

Reactions: Seriously?
VW also have a similarly dull colour palette for most of their vehicles.

My current car isn’t VAG (it’s a Renault ??!!) and for some of their current vehicle range the colour choices include yellow, bright green, orange, red and a very nice bright-ish metallic blue. One car manufacturer that IMHO isn‘t afraid to be bold with their colour palette………

Agreed, spent some time in a new R5 in Kermit Green (note: that may not be the official name), which looked like a flat green but close up was metallic - the owner hadn’t even noticed it was metallic. But agreed, Renault are certainly not backwards in coming forwards with their colours - love the Yellow.

Wow,
what a snooze-inducing choice of colours

My wife wanted red but they dropped that colour in the 25> models
She then wanted the Matt colours like sand it was but a 2K price I said no way

To be honest the colours dont bother me too much - its the fact that the trims are not colour coded to the car which is/was my bugbear. I went black based upon the trim thing but would have gone Magnetic grey or white if those trims had matched the paint...

I think I'd decided if I was going to get another Formentor it would have been black, mainy as all the other shades of black / grey trim don't look as bad on other colours.

But I decided to chop in the Formentor for a new (well, newish - it’s been hanging around for months and is the previous MY) BMW M440i, picking it up on Thursday. Not happy with Formentor pricing (£9K more since 2022 for the same spec car) and the BMW isn't a whole lot more than a new Formentor VZ2 Hybrid, the facelift styling and the drab colour choice as above, so am going for something a bit different. Had a good think about a Mercedes CLE PHEV but decided to go for the MHEV BMW.

Adios!

My 2018 Leon FR was the wonderful Desire Red and I was simply in love with that colour 💕 If Cupra had offered the Ateca in that colour, I would have definitely gone for it without even thinking for a second. But I had to make do with the Graphite Grey, the one I found the least dull. Cupra design department created this "mean" or "dark" image for themselves and they unfortunately seem to think that bright colours don't suit that image.

There is so much possibility of nice darker colours, I love the Aurora blue on the Born, I never saw the Cosmos Blue of the Terramar or the Purple in real but it looks nice too on their configurator

So they can do it, but for some reason Leon & Formentor are just 50 shades of grey :(
