The daytime instrument illumination on my Leon has dimmed out.
I have adjusted the settings to 100% but it is still very dim.
Brightens OK when the lights are turned on but really too dim for daytime use.
Has anybody experienced this problem?
Instruments all work OK. Any ideas, solution?

If you revert your changes what happens to the brightness and what changes did you actually make.

Seems to be intermittent. Noticed today start of journey OK then dimmed out as I drive along.
the car was dealer serviced a couple of weeks ago and this has occurred since. I wonder if a software update was downloaded during the service and this has caused the problem.
the setting I increased was the instrument illumination to 100%

If the ambulant light drops, for instance by driving under trees, the instrument lights (except needles) go out as an indication that you may need to switch on your headlights. When outside light increases again the illumination returns.

It this what is happening?

Thanks for your response Glosphil.
Yes could be. I noticed it dimmed out yesterday when I went into a covered car park.
But I‘ve had the car 6 years from new and never noticed this before.
Could this feature have been switched on or altered by the dealer during a Service?
Just had a service and it’s since then I’ve noticed this.
Would this be a software setting? Or a menu setting I’ve not found?
Instrument lighting much dimmer than it used to be without the lights on even with the menu setting at 100%.
Where is the sensor for this? Perhaps its sensing aperture has got dirty?
Not sure how an MOT inspection would view this.
As a retiree and all this EV malarky I’m going to keep the car for a while. I believe it’s one of the last 1.8 FRs.
The dealer service manager told me “you need to hang on to that“.

Have the garage turned off the ‘auto lights’? This is a normal thing when cars go into workshops and most techs don’t reset, can’t remember if this stops the dash from dimming as an indication to put lights on.
