Hi Guys,

Firstly happy new year to you all.

My insurance renewal is coming up soon  and i have been scouring the web for qoutes the best so far has been with Direct Line.

My questions are has anyone had any dealings with them, i.e are they mod friendly? in the event of a claim do they pay up or do everything to avoid paying out etc.

Thanks

Thanks Guys,

Had a feeling the prices were too good to be true. will look at adrian flux.

Using www.confused.com I managed to knock almost 400 quid off our renewal quote for MY05 LCR last month!! Best quote came through from the AA, of all people... they've recently changed their insurance to be underwritten by Axa, so they're offering some good deals at the moment - not sure how mod friendly the AA are though ;)

Adrian Flux are very mod friendly. Visit the site and all you do is type in your phone number then click go... They call you straight away, which is pretty cool.

Greenlight insurance - £520 (I'm 32yrs with all mods declared - 5yrs no claims)
Brentacre in Swansea - (awaiting quote with mods declared)

Brentacre are supposedly very customer focussed, Flux and Greenlight no quite so good if things go wrong.

Look on Corrado.net, clubgti.com, or ukmkivs.net there seems to be some good feedback for Brentacre on these (type into Google and threads come back)

give elephant' website a go, i'm 24 - 3 yrs no claims and for a standard '54 LCR it was 790 squids - cheapest by miles!!!!!!!

- was getting quotes off other comapnies for a LC for 1500 - 2000!!! - thievin' 'asturds!!!!

i am with direct line and pay 450
before the leon i had a modded beemer and they sorted that out much cheaper then others
but it dose seem like they either like you or dont as i have told mates to try them and they cant get good quotes

Admiral best for me via confused.

Was with Liverpool Victoria with Scoob and they were cheepest by miles when I insured it first. Also missus has Alfa 147GTA through Liverpool Victoria.

Unfortunately Liverpool Victoria won't accept modded cars for new customers.

Ive moved to Adrian Flux, but the paperwork is a nightmare. You have to fill out a modification questionairre and you just get the feeling that this will be used in the event of problem.

On my insurance I am going to put my mum on as a named driver. It took £100 of my premium. I don't live with my parents but Elephant never asked for her address on the website when quoting. Just asked if she was spouse/partner/other. She won't ever drive the car because it is too powerful compared to her 1.2 Corsa, her words.

It depends on your age, but I'll be 30 when the renewal comes up.

It's worth trying and it's free.

I found that, im 21.. passed my test in April 2005. Elephant gave me a good quote on my LCR, then i added my mum and it knocked shed loads off the policy.. genuine reason for having her on there.. then added my dad and it went down again.

Everyone i spoke to said it was stupid... but im not complaining.. im a good driver.

Is Elephant mod friendly? i want to get my LCR chipped and amn induction kit..

Rob

I must be doing something wrong 29 2 yrs NCB 1 accident 3 yrs ago getting quotes back around 1400, i presently pay 1700.

I cant put parents on as they dont drive so no joy there.

Direct was cheapest at £1200
confused was £1500 at least and £5000 at the other end of the scale.

Thanks for the great response all been helpful keep em comming.

P.S guess i will have to hold off on that Revo for just a bit longer.

AS per my previous post ws jus wondering how much ball park do you pay aphix?

when i was 21 i got a celica gt4 with 0 NCB, 700 fully comp from elephant with (as above) my mum on the policy.

Now im 22, the 2003 LC was an extra 150 quid for me now with 1 year NCB and moved to a shitty Bradford postcode.

I'd try elephant, best of all say you do 2k miles a year cos they never ask for the mileage (even though mines quoted as 12k)

greenlight are extremely mod friendly and relativly painless to join. not 0% monthly option like the big boys (eg Direct Line). Cheaper for me than Adrian Flux.

26yo, 6yrs NCB, 12k miles/year, parked on street, 2002 LC with up to 10% power increase (Exhaust, Airfilter, DV, Bodykit, Alloys all declared), Like for like replacement of modified parts in the event of an accident, optional track-day cover - £599

Edit: oh, and this policy has sensible excesses - not £400+ like most of the other insurance companies

i think i pay about 1.3k-1.5k with elephant it was a few months ago, my memory isnt so good.

I had one years NCB (which confused some insurance companies as i had only held my licence for 5 or so months) Dont have any points, with no claims.

I think paying over £2k for insurance is getting silly, you would have to want the car pretty bad.
