Hi thought Id introduce myself as I got my 2004 ibiza 1.2 today... I'm rob and I live in cork Ireland..

I learnt to drive in a 2000 mk3 ibiza and loved it so after my sister crashed thAt one a few months ago I decided to get another one this time a 2004 red one as it was going relatively cheap and only had 600000 miles on it.

It's fairly rough around the edges but it's mechanically works perfect.. I want to bring it back to its former glory and do some cosmetic mods and probably sell it on for a profit if I can in order to buy a bigger engined fr (if the insurance is decent) I am not the most mechanically minded but I enjoy working with my hands so I'm up for a challenge!

If there's any advice anyone can give me on mk4s it would be appreciated..

Also if anyone knows the best way to deal with heavily scratched bodywork they could reply? And stained interior actually? Yeah I gotta lot of work to do

I'll put up pics as soon as it allows me too!

Heavily scratched bodywork will probably need a machine Polish on it with a rough cutting compound, also interior if badly stained will need to be steam cleaned, Google how to clean the interior of a car, there was a really good video on YouTube that showed different methods.

I've heard good things about G3 compound, but can't go wrong with a bit of t-Cut or meguiars products, try and do it without the machine polisher first though

Buy a electric polisher (silverline do onr for about £35 looks like a angle grinder) and some G3 cutting compound. Don't attempt it on a sunny day and go careful.

Found some g3 I had in my boat she'd looks fairly old but ill give it a try.. I have an orbital sander with a polishing head on it.. And I've used that on the boats but I'm not sure if it will be as effective as a specific electric polisher

Went for my first drive in the ibiza last night with my mate in his 1.4 mk5 golf and I can proudly say the 1.2 was a little faster in a the acceleration comp we did in a carpark ... So I've now named my new ibiza the golf killer :L next job is new xenon lights and new wheels .. It's got steelys at the moment and they make me want to vomit everywhere .. But I've seen a cupra advertised for breaking at a local scrappies so might bag myself some wheels from it! And maybe some seats
